I want to express my sincere appreciation to Nancy Reeb who has been one of
the most dedicated members of the two REEB E-mail lists and also to the
STROH-One-List which was started months ago by Linnea Miller, in Annville, PA
to help with our research of that family. Nancy has devoted much time and
effort to provide the members of this list with numerous items and
information found throughout the internet. Many contacts have been made with
various Reeb descendants because of Nancy's efforts. Thank
John
Thank you very much for such nice thoughts. When I catch up to you I will
feel like I did something good.
I just purchased the 1881 British Census and was really shocked to find the
Reeb name. I am wondering if you already knew about him?

Recently I have been working on my own Reeb relatives files to edit and enter
data into TMG (The Master Genealogist) software due to loss of some of my
files to somewhere in cyber-space a couple of years ago which had not been
backed up in quite some time therefore a tremendous loss. So I had need to
do some census checking in the state of Iowa and I wanted to pass some of
this information on in case anyone is interested.
It may interest Paul REEB that I did see his ancestors in 1920 census of Des

Diann,
Welcome back to the list. Glad to see you are back with us from your
vacation. If you have not already done so, I am hoping that you will also
re-subscribe with the GUS-REEB list. There will be some information being
discussed there from time to time between now and July about an upcoming
reunion in July 2000. Since it will the first reunion after the start of the
new millennium, we are going to try to make it one of the most memorable
events in the new century.

Nancy,
Thanks much for your efforts. A tidbit. Michael Reeb 1772-1793 brother of
our common ancestor George Reeb & Magdelena Reeb died in the military
serving the Revolutionary Government of France. Most likely under General
Hoche who defeated the Austrians near Wissembourg in late 1793 and hence
kept the revolution alive. He had to be among the first conscripts or
volunteers in Feb 1793. In Oct 1790 he witnessed the baptism of Jacob son
of George & Magdelena. A note next to his birth record says "die
Nancy,
I don't know about the others, but even though I was born in Oklahoma and
received all my schooling in the U.S.A. even at the advanced age of 65, I
still have not learned how to read American dates when they only include
digits. In every county in Europe and Asia, it is no problem because they
always write the dates in what I find to comply with my understanding of what
is logical, that is they write the day, then the month, then the year.
Do you know how these dates for the Kentucky indexe

Please join me in extending a welcome to Mary Lou Carter. Mary Lou is a
great granddaughter of Augustus Daniel Rape. From his father to his
immigrant ancestor, his lineage was: Thomas Rape, Samuel Rape, Henry Rape,
Johann Peter REEB a.k.a. Peter Reape, Peter Rape etc. who was son of Gustavus
Reeb and Anna Margaretha Stroh. Our ancestor Johann Peter REEB was born 1724
in Pisdorf (now Bischtroff-sur-Sarre) in old Nassau-Saarwerden, but now
France.

Jim,
Recently one of the St. Clair County, Illinois Reeb descendants asked me
about your Reeb ancestry. Although, you have furnished that information to
me already, I think it would be best for you to provide the answers to the
list rather for me to do it and possibly leave something out or make errors
etc.
John V. Reeb
Dear John and others,
Gosh, ,most of the DISTANT Reeb roots I recieved from John and Werner
via John. The "Current" 1850/60's, from what I could gather from Census,
marriage and other records I could find here in the St. Louis/St Clair
Co.,Il area.
I have it this way and I hope you can make sense of it all.
