I agree with you totally. Although I cannot compare myself to you, Werner
or Mike, I too am interested in all Reeb lines. I try to follow them all
and connect where I can.
My problems now are that I can't get a handle on the New Orleans Reebs at
all. Also, I am very much confused on the three Georg Reeb's who settled
in Nebraska. Would it be possible to get an Ahnentafel on these three
Georg Reebs from you?
I am glad to hear you are feeling better. I trust you are having better

I am forwarding an e-mail to the list that I received from Jerry Morrison who
sometimes touches bases with me about the descendants of George REEB, the
Zutzendorf REEB who lived in the Gold country in California...the same George

Hi!
I am some weeks back with my private e-mails but first I, too, want to like
to welcome the new members. I am one of the European group members and am
living in Germany.
Pablo, I finally got the book I talked about a while ago. It is "Karl
Stumpp, Die Auswanderung aus Deutschland nach Ru_land in den Jahren 1763
bis 1862" (emigration to Russia between 1763 and 1862). On one hand it
looks very professional, on the other hand it allready lacks the date of
publishing (early 1970s I guess). Nevertheless the
Being the list owner for the REEB-ROOTS and GUS-REEB e-mail lists, I believe
that one of my moral obligations is to encourage the list subscribers to post
to the correct lists. I am sure that it is confusing to many of you that
there are two separate lists to begin with and probably you wonder what
difference it makes as to which list you post to. I will try once again to
explain.
REEB-ROOTS was started for the sur-name of REEB. It was never intended to
become a list for the surnames of REAP, REEP
It is too late for me to get a lookup for these but this will show the name
of the newspaper it was published in and the date of publication.

Sorry I have been inactive for awhile, but I haven't found out any more info that I can pass along. To review, I am following Andrew Reeb, born in NY, and thanks to you now know his father is William Reeb, born in NY. I did send for my great-grandmother's social security form, (Andrew's daughter), but I have not received it as of yet. I recently found out about my father's side, so I have been working hard on it, so I haven't had much time for this Reeb line.
Thanks to you John, and everyone out t

This is not a very informative e-mail for anyone. But then the appropriate
sources who should be able to help with information on REEB families in New
Orleans have not been very helpful to this person.
Both Mike Reeb and Emma Messinger can attest that I have been very persistent
in my attempts to get more details on the various REEBS who came from Germany
and France and settled in New Orleans. In the beginning of my search in New
Orleans...all I could find was a few clues in the 1880 and 1900 census

Welcome Ted,
It appears your ggg- grandmother was born in Zutzendorf 16 Jan 1823 and went
to Canada with her parents Johann Theobald Reeb and wife Elisabetha
Margaretha Hanns. They settled at Humberstone, Ont, Canada. Theabold's
father was a younger brother to my gggg-grandfather.
Who did Margarethe marry, where & when did she die? Either John V Reeb or
myself have genealogy on this interesting family if you are interested.

The other Reeb family in Keskastel that provided immigrants to Nebraska was
that of Johann Friedrich Reeb. He was married twice and both wifes were REEB
descendants. So again, as I stated in part one, when we talk about lineages
of the Nebraska REEBS confusion reigns. However, in this case there is
another interesting aspect. This Johann Friedrich REEB was born in Keskastel
but his lineage does not trace back to the earlier settled Keskastel REEBS
instead his father had come from Voellerdingen to
Welcome, Lisa. This is a great list with lots of Reeb knowledge. I'm sure
you will be successful in obtaining information that will help you. Please
share any that you have.

First, I should introduce myself as I am not related directly to any Reebs.
I have been lurking in the background for some time reading all of your
posts. My genealogy research has been on the back burner for the past year
or so as I moved my mother from her apartment to a retirement home and just
recently we have moved her to a nursing home.
My connection to the Reebs is through marriage. My wife Charlotte's
grandmother was Lottie Melissa Reeb (1889-1975), daughter of Wilhelm Eugene
Reeb (1858-1924).

For the benefit of newer members of the list, could someone explain if there
is any relationship between the Zutzendorf and Keskastel Reebs ( i.e. a
common anscestor) other than a common origin in the Rhine region. This
would be helpful in determining if the Reeb information I am reading on the
list exchanges pertains to my root search. Certainly the same names,
Johann, George and Catharina keep popping up.
You also refer to New Orleans Reebs, are they related to either group?
Thanks,

Don't forget me in the Zutzendorf Reebs. My family is descended from Johann

finding this genealogical search fascinating and am deeply indebted to all
of you for the wonderful information you are putting together.

Hello, all. My name is Lisa Tetzlaff. I am looking for Anna Margueretta

married to Johann Philip Karcher. Anybody out there got any leads for
me? thanks, Lisa.

As all of you who have been subscribers to this list for more than a few
weeks know, I have often requested that you the members help keep the list
active by communicating to it.
Every so often something will be said by one of the subscribers that
indicates they are talking privately with another member...but that other
member is silent and often not contributing back to the list. I am not
saying that you can't talk privately to each other. But I want all of you to

I won't have the full obit for a few days. I thought this was interesting
having both REEB & RAPE here.
