1. Reeds in Rowan Co., NC [1]
ROWAN CO., NC I was looking over a partial listing of Rowan Co., Marriages 1753-1868 covering only the Reed marriages alphabetically from James Reed to William Reed. There is the marriage that Abner Pace was bondsman for in 1856--William E. C. Reed (not Reid as in previous records) m. Susan Bevings, 28 Oct. 1856. I have long suspected that there is a tie between the groom and Abner Pace's wife JULIA ANN REED (of Guilford Co., NC origin). Just above this entry is the marriage of WILLIAM B. REED on 11 Ma

4. Re: [REED-L] REED, John of Norwalk, CT [1]
I'm jumping in here, hoping that maybe someone has a lead to my "mystery" Reed. My 4th (or 5th) gg grandfather, Jonathan Millet of Voluntown, CT, had a daughter Nancy who married a Reed. Nancy was born about 1775, the only clue I have to her husband's identity is a mention of "my daughter, Nancy Reed" in her father Jonathan's will dated Ontario Co. NY in 1798. Nancy & her husband could have married in CT, or in Ontario Co NY after the Millet's migrated there prior to 1800. Does anyone have a Reed in thi

I signed up for this. When I tried to log on, I got to a page that said "Your are being ripped off". I wrote to the person who sent the email, an Ebenezer Abodeely. He claimed a disgruntled employee was attempting to sabotage him. He apparently got rid of the message. However, when I was finally able to log onto the site, it is nothing but links to other pages, and very sparse. I would recommend Cyndi's List [ http://www.cyndislist.com/ ] for this sort of thing. Don't know that it is much help, but here is what I found. http://www.behindthename.com/ MARY (f) The meaning of this popular name is not known for certain, but there are several theories: "sea of bitterness", "rebelliousness", "wished for child" (Hebrew), or possibly an Egyptian name. Saint Jerome derived it from Latin stilla maris "drop of the sea", though given the origins of the name this etymology is obviously incorrect. Miriam was the original form, as used in the Old Testament where it belongs to t
