ROWAN CO., NC
I was looking over a partial listing of Rowan Co., Marriages 1753-1868
covering only the Reed marriages alphabetically from James Reed to
William Reed.
There is the marriage that Abner Pace was bondsman for in 1856--William
E. C. Reed (not Reid as in previous records) m. Susan Bevings, 28 Oct.
1856. I have long suspected that there is a tie between the groom and
Abner Pace's wife JULIA ANN REED (of Guilford Co., NC origin).
Just above this entry is the marriage of WILLIAM B. REED on 11 Ma
Seeking info on Jonas or John C Reed, born Mar 31, 1812 in PA. One
record lists him as Jonas while a write up on his wife (Marion Co, IOwa)
lists him as JOHN. He married Sophronia Andrews Nov 12, 1848 Delaware,
OH. Have found 2 birthdates for Sophronia: Oct 19, 1826 and Skep 6,
1819, same parents: Lyman Andrews and Percy Minerva Vining. Info
indicates Percy Minerva Vining was born FEb 1799 in Simsbury, Hartford,
Connecticut and married Lyman Andrews Dec 6, 1818 in Worthington,
Franklin Co, Ohio. Anoth
I'm jumping in here, hoping that maybe someone has a lead to my "mystery"
Reed. My 4th (or 5th) gg grandfather, Jonathan Millet of Voluntown, CT, had
a daughter Nancy who married a Reed. Nancy was born about 1775, the only
clue I have to her husband's identity is a mention of "my daughter, Nancy
Reed" in her father Jonathan's will dated Ontario Co. NY in 1798. Nancy &
her husband could have married in CT, or in Ontario Co NY after the Millet's
migrated there prior to 1800. Does anyone have a Reed in thi

Hi
Searching for information on Luther Thomas Reed, born 1846 maybe in Ohio.
He had a brother James who eventually moved to Washington state and a sister
Jen or Gen that lived with James for awhile and then perhaps Colorado.
Luther lived in Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, and Minnesota.
With a smile,

MARY (f) The meaning of this popular name is not known for certain, but
there are several theories: "sea of bitterness", "rebelliousness", "wished

from Latin stilla maris "drop of the sea", though given the origins of the
name this etymology is obviously incorrect. Miriam was the original form, as

New to list. My Reeds descend from Jacob Reed, who came from Scotland before the Revolutionary War and settled in South Carolina. Would like to know who he married. Also where in Scotland he was born and who his parents are.
I know a few of the children. The family immigrated, due to crop failures in S. C., to Rush, Indiana. The next generation was born there. They then moved west to the Mercer County, Illinois area. My own line married Fosters.
They moved west again to Iowa and are recorded in the

I am trying to find the family of Kirk Smith. He is the member of my
family who, back when I was a child and young adult, would send out
forms for our family to fill out and send back to him. He kept track of
the Smith line as it related to my great great great grand mother, Ella

Kirk was postmarked 1974 and the return address was "Cavalier, N.
