Johnita,
Thanks so much for taking the time to send me this
information...it is appreciated. Is there a chance that
Mary's name in the will reads "Mary Ann"?
I am trying to find the parents of Mary Rea who was
born in 1787 in Henry Co., VA. She moved her family
to Giles Co., TN and the 1836 Tax List for Giles Co.
shows her as Polly Taylor living near a John, James
and Burrell Rea.

I would be interested in any information concerning the Moses Wray who
died about 1801 in Franklin Co., VA., that you may have. I am trying to
prove that my Ezekiel Rhea/Ray is the son of this man.
Thanks.

CLAN SURNAMES IN SCOTLAND
In Scotland, it was a simple act of loyalty for a new member of a clan
to accept the chief's name. A new member didn't necessarily have to be
related by blood; he only had to swear allegiance to the clan. A clan
isn't a family but an alliance of several families and, often,
individuals. Finding many Campbells, Fergusons, MacLeods, or Munros in
one area doesn't necessarily indicate blood kinship. The clans
traditionally occupied the Highlands

If your Mary was born about 1787, then it's doubtful that she was the
daughter of James Rae and Johanna. This is because it appears that
James' daughter, Mary, was married by 1788 when James wrote his will.
Daughter Mary's surname is difficult to read in his will but appears to
start with an Ar.
Here's the best I could get out of that will when I ordered a copy of it.

I would very much be interested in the Reaugh wills. That is one of the
spellings of our name. If they are not too long, you may post them to the
list. I would like to have copies for the Rhea family Assn.

Hi All,
I am looking for any info on Mary "Polly" Ann Rea b. 1787, as I
believe she may be the daughter of James Rea and Johann Kasoinah
of Henry Co.,VA. Her siblings would be: William Collings, John,
James Jr., Elizabeth, Sarah, Rebecca, Ann and Katherine.
Mary married John Taylor who died 1818-1820, leaving her to
raise their six children in Giles Co. TN. Of these six children I have
been able to find: Roland, John, James H., and Matilda.
Any info on this Rea family would be appreciated,
yo

Does anyone know who Joseph Rhea found on the 1820 Lincoln Co., TN census was? I am still trying to identify the
parents of my Pleasant Vincent U. J. H. G. Rhea born 1821, died 1901 Hood Co., TX. He was not the son of John and
Sallie Rhea of Lincoln Co., TN. Their son Pleasant was born circa 1803, died in Arkansas sometime in the mid 1800's.
Possibly my Pleasant's father was the above mentioned Joseph Rhea. I would like to learn more about him.
