I'm looking at a little book titled Virginia Publick Claims for
Rockbridge County, 1782 ~ these are claims provided to the county for
militia duty I believe. It is 24 pages and indexed. I've researched in
Augusta County so long I know most of the names by heart, and in looking
through this book I believe many of these people are related to those in
Augusta County 2nd and 3rd generations who are moving west because the
land is all used up in Augusta? One of the names I've run across several
times is A

Pat & List,
In your recent posting of Johnson Co., Missouri Marriages, the marriage
of Margaret M. RHEA to Wm. M. WOLFENBARGER rang the proverbial "bell."
Margaret M. (Martha) RHEA was the daughter of Archibald and Jeannette
(BEARD) RHEA, the granddaughter of Robert and his second wife,
Catherine (BOILER) RHEA, and the great-granddaughter of Wm. and
Elizabeth(CLARK) RHEA. James D. (David) RHEA who married Lucy A.
CHEATHAM was Margaret's brother.

I read her name wrong in the 1850 census. I thought it looked like Susan. and
then I thought perhaps it was Lydia.

Charley,
If you will notice in the mail I sent to the list, Jackson county is not
listed. You know its a possibility that they obtained their license from
Kansas, or a different county in Mo. and were married in Jackson county.
My dad was in service, and got the license in county of ks where he was
located, and then they were married in Johnson Co. Ks.. It was recorded in
Johnson co. Ks. Just a thought.

Thanks. I had already checked the anc.com page, but wondered whether you or
Ed actually had a copy of the article from the Bulletin of the Watauga
Assoc. of Genealogists. I'll try to get a copy from the Asso. or from one
of the repositories to see whether the article refers to my Louis Rhea's
Bible.

I do not believe that the Martha Rhea you find in Cass Co is my James Mother.
Her husband was Thomas and he died. I don't know that she remarried.
If I remember correctly she was in Cumberland Co. Ky in 1835.

I found this on Ancestry Message boards, and the only reason I am posting it
is that There is a L. Rhea Taylor who wrote a book about Taylor's. But
interest to me was the L. Rhea Taylor, who was the author of a book. Read on

Notice this is Vol. I, I suggest that those needing marriage records for
later dates contact Kansas City, Mo. Library, Independence Branch. They have
a extensive genealogical library section, and would most likely carry the
later volumes., or at least be able to tell you where you could obtain the
information.

I have a question about the 4 Ray brothers. Have you searched a 1850 census
report on any of them? That should say, if they knew; where their parents
were born.

I found this site today, and although I am not promoting any of these books
or this site, I wanted to let you know of the URL and some of the books they
are offering. These are books that have been reduced in price.

GUTHRIE,
I don't think I have seen a copy of this article. I was in Johnson City TN
where this association is located last weekend, and passed up a trip to the
library there to see the Haynes Tipton house instead (and it was closed - I
had to jump the fence). Next time.
