I, too, would like to know more about this James Rea of Henry Co., VA.,
as I think he is the likely father of my John Rea/Rhea/Rae of Warren Co.,
TN.
I found one possibility for his father but this a long way from any kind
of proof:
6 Nov 1748. Amelia County, Virginia, Will Book 2X. pg 153. Will of John
Ray. Probated 28 Aug 1766. Heirs: Son, John Ray - 125 acres part of a
242 acre tract purchased from Joel Meador that part whereon John Ray now
lives to be laid off convenient to his plantation o
Pat,
What's the time frame for this list?
Thanks,

I show that John J. (son of John Lauwrence and Mary A. Eidson Rhea) and Ada
Mae Stewart Rhea had a Vera born about that time but she lived to adulthood.

Johnita, This is interesting as My Ray's in Alabama also spelled Rhea. When
I was a boy, my hair was cut by Mrs. Echols who said to be our relative. My
GG-grandfather was John L Rhea, born in 1868 and married Hattie Redwine born
the same year. They were in Knoxville in 1900. The census data on John L.
Rhea list birth in Tn I believe, but he was in OK. at some time, where one
or more of Great aunts-uncles were born. He worked for the Railroad. He may
have been illiterate as was my grandfather Robert Wiley Ra

A Thomas Humes Rhea was born Sullivan Co. TN in 1866. He married a Mrs.
Latham. They had at least one son Thomas H. Jr. Some of his siblings
moved west. I do not know what became of him though. There are not that
many Thomas Rheas in my data in the 1800's.

Does anyone know anything about the Commission Relative to Captured and
Abandoned Property? I am trying to find out if William H. Rhea of Washington
County, AR filed a claim after the Civil War for damages. I was able to find
the index to the Soughern Claim Commission, but my William is not there. Any
help and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
