Hi Pat:
I'm answering the roll call. I've previously submitted my family records to
the list in detail, so this is a brief outline of my lineage.
I have two Rhea lines which, so far, do not connect (although I suspect they
do somewhere!)
The first, through my paternal grandfather, is the JAMES/JESSEJOHN RHEA
line.
The second, through my paternal grandmother, is the MATTHEW/ARCHIBALD/ROBERT
SR. RHEA line.
Several years ago, Pat appointed me the team leader for the List's
JAMES/JESSE RHEA group, but I h

Hi Norma and all us Rhea.Ray.Rhea,Wray,Reaugh Raeh etc. My expertise in
research isn't in Genealogy, but I do enjoy dabbling in this field as well.
I have over the few years that I have dabbled in family research that all
information about our ancestors has a grain or more of truth in it and is
worth tracking down. The information may come from "campfire" family
gathering, family Bibles, old records, tomb stones, scraps of paper, funeral
records and list of attendees and donors at funerals, and a myriad of
Hi Everyone,
It has been about a year since I sent an outline of my line. Thought I might
try it again. I do know a bit more information than I did and hopefully that
just might help link with someone. I am hunting information on the following

Hello Mary, this is my line but I don't have any information to add.
I believe Linda has put the family on-line at gencircles and most of my
information came from her. I am descended from William E. Ray, son
of Luke. He married Elizabeth A. Kefauver and they took their young
family, the eldest being my ggGrandmother, Sarah A. Ray, to Daviess
County, Mo. Some of the younger children were b. there.
go to http://www.gencircles.com and enter Luke Ray.
Thanks, Marie

Thank you Pat for your reply. A lot of this research that this man
has is mine. There is group of us has been working on this family
for years. We are documented to Matilda Ann Windsor but, do
not know where he got the parents of Jepha, I did write to him.
I was hoping you could help me find Betsey Rhea's parents.

Ed,
Thanks much for your note on geographic location of John Rhea and Hannah Hasty in County Connacht, Ireland. I have not read the query which prompted your response. If you are correct regarding the generational placement of George as the son of John and Hannah (Hasty) Rhea, then George was a brother (not identified previously) to Joseph C. Rhea of Washington County, VA. I will review the query and respond. The Family History Notebooks of Joseph C. Rhea of Eminence, IN (written in the 1880's) that Joh

.Ann,
According to information I obtained from FamilyTreeMaker.com when I
started on this research project, James Rhea and his wife Betsy
(Elizabeth) did go to Jasper Co., MO. He died there (this info says)
before 1859. This James Rhea is a brother to John Rhea, who is the gr gr
grandfather of my husband, Lynn A. Rhea of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
I do have a picture of another of the brothers, RILEY RHEA, who went on
to Oregon. A notation on the back of the picture noted that he was a
sheep herder.

The "librarian" who was so concerned about the sale of Rhea books should look first at the nature of the request that was made; i.e., a request to the author about how this book could be obtained. Second, the response made was to suggest to the inquirer that the book has a specific limited audience. The purpose of the author in producing the book was to furnish a family historical legacy specific for descendants of Joseph C. Ray (nee Rhea) of Washington County, VA --- no know relationship

then what was written in the Clan Campbelll Magazine back in the 1920's.

There be the problem. A Matthew Campbell certainly existed at the right time
in Scotland. A Matthew Rhea existed in Ireland at the right time. Nothing I
have seen connects, nor exaxtly contradicts they were the same person. I
have lots of dead ends in my research of familes but I view this as the Holy
Grail.
