In connection with persons named Joseph Rhea: I have been looking for a Joseph
Rhea. b 12-4-1809, possibly in VA, who died 9-25-1855 in Stoddard Co, MO. He
married Anna Marshall, b 5-11-1813 in Hawkins Co, TN, and she died 5-30-1888 in
Stoddard Co, MO. These are in my husband's line and the information I have is
mostly from family sources and the Missouri Census of 1840. Joseph's parents
are supposed to be William Rhea and Sarah Vernon. I would be most happy if
someone can tell me the ancestors of thi
We are definitely talking about the same Civil War veteran, David V. Rhea.
David's parents were Robert M. Rhea and Nancy Evans. My family had traced
our roots back to Robert M. Rhea, a farmer and sheriff in Paris, Edgar Co.,
Illinois. A Robert M. Rhea was also listed as a soldier in the 1831-2
Black Hawk Indian War (almost non-war) in Illinois.
I also had a hard time trying to connect Robert M. Rhea to the Sullivan Co.
TN Rheas even though the 1850 census says he was born there in about 1807.

Pat, your info may be mine, not sure yet. I show in my files a Larkin Rhea b-1845 in TN, the son of James Northcross Rhea and Mary Ann Burton both of TN. He is listed in the 1850 and the 1860 Hancock Co., TN Census. I need to check your info further to see if it could be mine. Again thanks.

I see where Robert Homer is a member of the "Febraskids e-group". Is
this some kind of Nebraska/Rhea related group? I am a Nebraskan and my
relationship to the Rheas is through my maternal grandmother's father,
Charles Clarence Rhea, of Crete, Nebaska. His father was the David V.
Rhea, the Illinois Civil War veteran who moved to Nebraska City. David's
father was the Robert M. Rhea in Illinois who was born in Sullivan County,
TN as the son of James Rhea, grandson of Rev. Joseph Rhea, the early

Dear Michael,
My great grandfather was David V. Rhea from Paris, IL. He was as you said a
lieutenant in the 7th IL Calvary during the Civil War. David was the son on
Robert M. Rhea and Nancy Evans(?) of Sullivan, TN. I have had great
difficulty researching back beyond Robert M.
David V. married a Mary Judd and had two daughters one of which is my
grandmother, Grace Lillian. She married a Clarence Mayo and moved to
Washington State. They had one son, Clifford, who was my father.
I would appreciate
I found this info on familysearch.com/ You don't have to be a member to
access. I put in James Rhea and then put in Joseph Rhea and Nancy as parents
and this is what I got. Choose the one listed from NC and this will come up.
