The Rhea list was formed originally to only include the people whose name was
originally Reah, Reaugh, Rheah, Reaough, and finally RHEA.
Others contacted me and asked if I would accept.. Rea, Rae, and Wray, and we
did. We have a good sprinkling of these three names on the list.
The Rhea name was spelled Ray on census records, and records taken by others.
Bible records, marriage records, cemetery records, etc; the name was spelled
Rhea afer 1800. Before 1800 it was spelled like the names in the first

I think Tom makes a very good point about renaming the list to RAY-L .. ..
I believe it would attract more subscribers and generate a broader
discussion. The families are probably the same, but over the years I
would expect many (most?) to have simplified the spelling.

Thought you all might like to read this, so you know what is allowed and not
allowed when you are quoting material out of a book.
you can't
copyright a fact, so if you wanted to copy some birth and death dates out
of a book and post them to a list, it would be quite legal. Copying large
portions of text from the book to repost would almost certainly be
actionable, and is something that RootsWeb would probably try to prevent
and this is true, unless you have permission of the author , written or oral.
Following is addition information I have on the above subject.

Hi Everyone!
I am sorry I made a typo late last night. I am sure Pat did not mean any
disrepect, atleast I did not take it that way. I have know Pat for a couple
or so years and she have been very helpful many times. Not many of us live as
long as Florence and I wanted to express my feelings for her in a way that
would not offend anyone. I hope a lot of you will have the opportunity to see
Florence on the Today TV Show. I am going to tape the show.
Hellow to all interested parties;
This week I released the data I have on Robert and Sarah Rhea. I would
appreciate receiving any information you may have on both individuals,
including their relatives.
Thanks,

Hi, This is in reply to Ken R's query of 7/4.
Elizabeth Hornbaker married Robert Rhea (1776-5/5/1850), son of William
Rhea (c1749-9/20/1824) and Mary Elizabeth Gay (c1752-1778).
Robert and Elizabeth Hornbaker were married 6/28/1835 in Preble Co., OH.
Robert also married:
Elizabeth Rhea (c1777-c1835) 12/25/1798 in Green Co., KY and
Hannah Peterson (d. 5/10/1888) 3/25/1851 in Jay Co., IN.
These people are in the Bill and Betty section of the family (Team 7).

Concerning Thomas Rhea's wife: Her name was "Mary Winne (Bullock)." I
took a picture of her tombstone in the Wm. Rhea cemetery in Green
County, KY. In the 1850 census, Thomas' wife is listed as "Mary," and in
the 1860 census as "Polly," a common nickname for Mary .

The name of Robert Rhea's mother is believed to be "Mary," according to
Morton's History of Rockbridge County, Virginia, page 524. There is no
evidence (to my knowledge) that it was Elizabeth. William's second wife
was Elizabeth. Also, middle names were not used much before 1790.

Hi Team,
Since my last message the following news has come in:
1. Carol Akeyson gives specific dates for 4 David Rhea (3 Thomas, 2
William, 1 William) as follows: birth 2/28/1838 in Green Co., KY; death
1914; marriage 1/1/1856 in LaMotte, IA to Sarah Jane Blake for whom: birth
c1833 in IN; and death 5/11/1912 in Maquoketa, IA.
2. Robert Perry Rhea quotes David's age as 12 in the 1850 Census,
corroborating the foregoing.
3. My list included a Nancy Winne Bullock (m. a Thomas Rhea). RPR quotes
