Here is some info that came down from my Indiana list.
Hi, not sure if this is the Rea/Ray that you are looking for but you might
check in St. Joseph County Indiana. There is a cemetery at Potatoe Creek
State Park, called the Porter Rea Cemetery and I believe that there may be an
Alonzo burried there.

Hello,
I find this very interesting. I descend from Elias Brazeal and Pherby.
Elias' wife is Pherby Rhea. They were married in Warren County, about
1810-14. I think that her father was John Rhea, not confirmed on that. Elias
and family moved to Blount County, Al before 1830.
Thanks

Dear Madge, I know how frustrating it can be when others tell you without
even giving it a thought that its "impossible" for this name to be related
in any way~!!
I have Ray - Rae also and as time goes on will not be surprized to find many
other spellings of this surname. My Ray family came out of Roanoke County,
Virginia into Daviess County, Missouri where they married into the MALLORY
and KELSO families. I am also on the ETHINGTON list...try the variations of

My John Rhea/Rea had a son, John Rhea/Rea. I don't know anything at all
about this son, not even his birth date. Do you think your Pherby could
be the son's daughter?

Do you have an approximate birth year for your Elias Brazell? This might
help a little. Perhaps he married Pherby Ray/Rea/Rhea after his first
wife died. Pherby had married Ezekiel Hudson and perhaps that is why she
is referred in the newspaper as Pherly Hudson, wife of Elias Brazel. I
would sure like to figure this out. The Mormon record refers to her as
Pherby (Ray) Hudson and that she was the daughter of John Rea and aunt of
Dicy Ray Perkins. Dicey was the daughter of Aaron Ray who was a son
Hi,
I've been looking for you or someone like you who is interested in the Rheas and
Brazells. John Rhea/Rea/Rae/Ray did have a daughter who married a Brazell but
her name was Mary. I thought that Elias Brazell married Pherby and that Pherby's
surname was Hudson. Possibly Pherby was a first cousin of Elias Brazell and
could have been a daughter of Pherby Rhea and Ezekiel Hudson. Pherby Rhea who
married Ezekiel Hudson was also a daughter of John Ray/Rhea/Rea/Rae. There is
another possibility here

Gary,
I do not have access to the Will Books, wish I did--maybe I could find
several families, I am looking for. No Rhea though
I can only research the indexes. You might try the Lancaster Co. Pa. usgenweb
page and see if they list the historical society. They may have info for you.
www.usgenweb.org/ click on Pa in the map and then on left hand side click
on list of counties, and click on Lancaster Co. Should bring up the web page.

I have ordered birth and death records from Tennessee but it's been some
time ago. I'm not sure that I remember how I got them. Birth records
for a living person is hard to come by as they haven't been archived. I
am presuming that your mother is deceased and maybe in that case you
could order her birth record, particularly since you are one of her
children. I think it's something like the Bureau of Vital Statistics or
something; however, it's a different address for older records. Maybe

I find this very confusing. All the records that I have on Elias and Pherby
shows that her name is Ray(Rhea). The application that ELias filled out for

Pherby Ray, in Warren County, TN. Poss the years of 1810-1814.
I am planning to go to the library in Nashville to research the Brasseale

have married any of John Ray/Rae/Rea/Rhea's daughters. It would be more
likely that he would have been a grandson and a son of Mary Ray/Rea and
her Brazell husband. John would have been born about 1739 according to
his tombstone and Mary (Polly) would have been born about 1743 according
to her tombstone. Mary would have been 49 in 1792 and although she could
maybe have had children then, I would doubt it. I even wonder if she
