At a recent Colonial Dames meeting I was given an article taken from the
Belfast News Ltr., dated Friday 10 June 1768.--
For the province of GEORGIA, This is to give notice that Matthew Rea of
Drumbo, and William Beatty of Belfast, will have a stout ship.
I read with interest the 3/25/99 message about John W. Rea's descendants. I
noticed that the names used by this family in the South were very similar to
those of the descendants of Samuel Rea/Rhea in PA. Samuel's descendants are
the only descendants of Mathew the 'Rebel' Rhea who use the Rea spelling.
Note the similarity of names between John Rea here and John W. Rea born about
1809 in SC noted in the 3/25/99 message. Could Gen. John Rea's son John be
John W. Rea?

Hi Bob
You will probably curse me for sending this to you but it is my complete
list of Rhea's from my earliest name. None of the old information is
verified at least by me. It goes down to my wife, Hilda Rhea Newland. I
know the most recent names or of minimal interest to you. But I do
appreciate the participation of you Aussies even if it isn't my family; it
adds so much interest. Happy hunting.
