Hi, Rheas,
Looking for help on these two RAY men:
Jacob RAY and Ussery RAY were probably b. Lunenburg? Co.,
VA, and were in Wilkes Co., GA by 1791. Their father
was Sanders RAY, who may have been the brother of
John RAY, RWS of Wilkes Co. Sanders RAY d. 1808,
probably in Washington Co., AL, apparently having gone
to Alabama to settle & then move his family? But his family
was still in Wilkes, GA, when Sanders died. The
daughters of Sanders RAY [RHEA, RHAE, RHEY] m.

Dear Ed:
Thank you for your reply, unfortunately none of those people seem to
be a relative, at least as far as I know. (as of this time). I have not had
any luck with this side of my family. I feel that my family may not want to
tell
me something, although nothing to base that on!! Again, thanks for the info
will try to keep plodding away to learn more!

Johnita,
Mine does, but so far it seems to have come in through Hattie Redwine
and her marriage to John L. Rhea. I am still working on this end and from
photos of John L. Rhea can not rule out N/A/ and or Melungeon. Hatties photo
is clearly N/A and traceable to Chicamaguan Cherokee in Ky and Tn. The
Rhae/Reah surname has always fascinated me as it has tie to the old Spanish
fort at Knoxville where one of the soldiers had that surname spelling.
Later. Dr. Bob!
Can someone (Maybe Polly Dixon...) give this person some news on her 40 year
search. I think this is Jesse Rhea's son.

Can anyone tell me any information on my husband's grandparents?
They lived in Saltville Virginia and had at least one son, Estell Bennard

Thanks in advance.

Hi, all,
I am hoping there may be someone out there connected to Joseph Thomas
RAY, son of Elijah RAY {RHEA,RHAE} and Nancy Ann MARTIN of
Washington & Choctaw Co., AL. Joseph, or Thomas, as he was recorded in
census records, was b. either 1836/37 or 1839/40 (Census conflict), and
d. bef. 15 July 1863, Knoxville, TN. His father, Elijah filed a death claim
15 July 1863 for Joseph Thomas Ray. Joseph had died at Knoxville, TN while
serving in CSA 22nd AL, Co. C. Joseph Thomas' older brother, Robert Andrew
Ray
Hi again, Rheas,
The mysterious D. RHAE in Choctaw Co., AL in 1850 was
living next door to my Elijah RHEA [etc.] in 1845 in Clarke Co., MS.
I am sure they were most likely brothers...
Anyone out there own a DICKSON [or Dick] RAY [etc.]? All these children
of his couldn't have just disappeared, could they? This Dickson or Dick would
probably have been born in TN [possibly, but unlikely, listed in AL ?];
his children, Jas. L.,Thos M., Tabitha, Martha J., John J., and
Nancy A. were all b. AL.
:-)
Please
Pat & List,
I incorrectly stated that the children of Robert and Sarah (Bingham) Reagh
were the grandchildren of William and Elizabeth (Clark) Reagh/Rhea.
William was Robert's brother.
Hi, Rheas,
Haven't posted this for a year or so.
Still looking for this man, recorded on the 1850 Choctaw Co., AL census.

Household # 181
Lurana, 39, F, AL
Jas. L., 12, M, AL
Thos M., 10, M, AL
Tabitha, 7, F, AL
Martha J., 6, F, AL
John J., 5, M, AL
Nancy A., 3, F, AL
I believe this may have been the brother of my Elijah RHAE [RAY, RHEA, RHEY]
found on the same census.
Does anyone link to any of these persons?
Please contact me directly at my E-Mail below. Thanks!
Pam
I thought it was interesting that Georgia was formed in 1733 by the English
for a non Catholic colony. I never knew that.
Here are the Rhea's listed in this marriage database.

Description:
In 1900, the official population of Leavenworth, Franklin, and Douglas
Counties in Kansas numbered about 87,000. This database contains the names of
roughly one eighth of those residents. Taken from Portrait and Biographical
Record of Leavenworth, Douglas, and Franklin Counties, Kansas, this
collection lists nearly 11,000 persons who lived in these three counties. In
addition to listing the name of the resident, the page number in the original
record is displayed.
