Is it a possibility that your Ray went to this innkeeper, as an apprentice.
Yu might check apprentice records for that time period, and co. Sometimes
will list parents. How old was he when he was listed with the innkeeper?
In that area where he was listed as living with an innkeeper, I would look at
wills, deeds, etc, to see if his father may have died and that maybe this
innkeeper became his guardian. Also guardian bonds.
How old was his wife when they married? If she was under age someone had
Hi, Richard,
I have noticed that you do a tremendous amount of research on the RHEA

Just a lame thought to share...I was wondering, since my ancestor Samuel Rea
was in the Revolutionary War, do you think he might have enjoyed fighting the
English? He was a private in John Rea's company, 1st battalion, Cumberland

This is to announce that Rhea Research page will have a home,
at Clan Campbell Education Association. My goal has been from the
beginning to find the truth. Do we all connect to a common ancestor of the
lands of Scotland-Ireland? This page will give us a place to share our
information with all those on the Web and with each other.
We will not delve into Campbell ancestry.Campbell's already have most of
that. and we will not try to show a connection to the Campbell's at this
time.

In the October 1997 edition of Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine there
is an article in the Technology section entitled "Seek and Ye May Find". I
found some interesting information under the entry "genealogy" using the
INFOSEEK search engine (http://www.infoseek.com). Although I did not find
any thing pertaining to the RHEA family, are other numerous other family that
may interest you.

Pat,
I have seen many references to these Rhea papers you describe from the U of
TN. Prior to this, I had no idea where the original material was.
Samuel Audley Rhea was the son of Samuel Rhea and Ann Rutledge and thus a
great-grandchild of the Rev. Joseph Rhea. His mother Ann died after the
birth of this, her first child, when Samuel A. was only 4 weeks old. He was
raised by his aunt Betsy until he was five. His father remarried and went on
to have 10 more children by second wife Martha Lynn. H
a friend from another group went to Freehold NJ to do research,
and did some research, for me also. Here is what he came up with.
These are the records of the three old graveyards compiled by
Rv. Frank R. Symmes in 1904 from record and gravestone viewing.

Pat,
In my O'RAY family, I was told that my gggrandfather was on his way to
America with his family by ship from Ireland and had to change his name
to RAY so they wouldn't think him too Irish and get 'booted' off the
ship.

Re: the Rhea family history
Thank you for this information on Matthew Campbell and his family.
Is this Book of Generations put out by the Campbell Family, Rhea family? If
not who? who published it. when ? and Is it still in print? and does it
document any of this?
Pat
I just found a whole new batch of RAY cousins and some interesting "stories"
I do not have all the accurate dates as yet since I just acquired this info
today. If any of these names and/or places sound familiar or connect in even
a remote way to your RAY please contact me.

or 70's) (met in White Cloud, Kansas)
children Lewey, Edith, May,Sylvia, and Clara.

The actual lists for several of the ships no longer exist, at least on this
side of the Atlantic. I found in a book, "A Compilation of Early South
Carolina Colonists" by Janie Revile, a list of the land grants given the
people listed by ship. Since it isn't a passenger list only the names of the
adult receiving the grant is listed. Single adult women also received
grants. you can deduce if there was a spouse and how many children by the
acreage received. T
