I believe that I may have located your family in Newport in the 1880
Census.
Hi :
I'm a new subscriber to this mail list and need some help. I have an ancestor Laughlin Dowling that emigrated to America from Ireland. He entered this country at Newport, RI. and got his citizenship in the same place. He and his wife and family resided from 1830 till 1855 or so in Newport and Providence since he owned land in both city's. Can anyone do some lookup's for me

If someone could look up Frederick Crooke and Thomas Crooke for me in the
1900 census, I would greatly appreciate it. They probably immmigrated about
1880. Children's names included Charlie, James, Francis (Frank), Agnes and
Jennie.
Friederick's wife was Hester, she is buried in Pocasset Cemetery, d. 1912.
They list her address as Providence. I know that is a tall order.
They were, I believe associated with the Pierce-Crook Automobile Agency if
anyone is familiar with that and knows where it i

? Mill means that I can't read the first part of the word. It was not
District 5 but rather the fifth of seven districts that I had gone through.
It was actually Enumeration District 96 and the description is as follows:

line through Young & Spring Sts. & Narragansett Ave. to the Ocean, by the
water line corner of Coggeshall's Ledge to Bailey's Beach through

Hello,
I am trying to find out where Mr./Mrs. John DEXTER lived before they lived
in Melrose, MA. They seem to have only lived in Melrose between 1890 and
1900.
John Dexter was born in Killingly, CT, in 1837, son of William Dexter, b1795
in Killingly. (William's father was probably Thomas Dexter, who married in
Plainfield, CT, in 1788. As I understand it, the Dexter families in New
England in the 1700's are descended from three Dexter men whose descendants
were settled around Sandwich, MA, Malden

I would appreciate a lookup for a William HOWARD family in Providence in
1900.
I do not have an age for William but wife Elizabeth should be about 41/42
years old. She was born in England and I think he was also. My grandfather
James Robert would be about 5/6 years old. There are older children but I
don't know names or ages. Thanks for any information that anyone can provide.

Kathy;
There were 18 Axons in RI in 1910 including one Nellie. There was also a 3
year old listed as H who could be Frank H. There is noone listed as Ellis.
I got this information at Census4all.com that provides the only index to
the 1910. My experience with it is that sometimes it's good and sometimes
it's bad. You can puchase the page that the index represents for $10 or you
can purchase the information on an individual household for $4. I estimate
that it would take about 200 hours to go through the 191

Hi list,
If anyone could do a look-up for the 1920 census for Middletown and/or Newport I would be very grateful. I'm trying to solve a family mystery!
I'm looking for Catherine HART. She was born in Yorkshire, England in 1866. In the 1900 Newport census she is living as a servant at West Broadway, Newport.
A contact I used to have in RI told me she was on the 1920 census for Middletown, but I searched the records on ancestry.com and can't find her!
She married Benjamin D Hart in 1900 if that's any help -
