1. [RIGENWEB] THURSTON inscription [1]
This came to me from another group concerning the grave of a RI man: Source: NCBERTIE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [NCBERTIE] Fwd: Latham Thurston This request was based on the following newspaper article. 3. [RIGENWEB] Re: Why isn't New York like Rhode Island ? [0.977409]
from Robin Young,...Well, actually I don't know, one can say a lot about each State. Records you say, in Cherry Valley, ( up-state New York ) were missing for 20 years in an New York garage. That's kind of hard to take, but how about this one. In the death records of Rhode Island, it states my husbands grandparents were buried in Lisbon, Maine. What was the name of the Cemetery ? Rhode Island doesn't know, they had to have the proper papers to move a body out of Rhode Island. However, those records were nev

5. Re: [RIGENWEB] Re: WILSON [0.977409]
Nancy would have to be the younger sister according to the 1850 census. My feeling has been that the mother Mary Ann/Nancy died when Nancy was born and she was raised by her grandparents. I believe in Dr. Mawney's will he only acknowledged his children by second marriage. Perhaps he was away in military when Nancy was born and blamed DR. Wilson for his wife's death?? I know Mawney was involved in some points in the Revolution. I pray that Dr. Wilson left a will. Elizabeth

The other list is : Rhode_Island@yahoogroups.com Also called the fun list, not much genealogy on it at all. Apparently, on the regular list people complained at times of people talking about food and places to visit, so others on this list objected. So, they formed a new list where one could talk freely. But of course

12. Re: [RIGENWEB] Re: Why isn't New York like Rhode Island ? [0.977409]
Joyce - Maybe you can find some mention in a Maine newspaper from that time. Why did they end up in Maine? Was there other family there? Maybe you can find out where these other people are buried - hopefully all in the same place, which will give you a local area to search. You didn't give the time frame, but I would contact the local library or historical society and check out what papers were available. Bodies coming from RI to be buried in Maine may have been mentioned in the paper. Good Luck,

17. [RIGENWEB] "restricted" LDS records [0.977409]
I'm jumping into this conversation in the middle, (sorry) but would like to add my 2 cents. A notation at the bottom of the microfiche that was unavailable (restricted) says "includes some living spouses and children". It is my understanding that the LDS church strictly adhers to the rights of privacy laws ( or "act" or something like that). They, legally, do not share any information that lists*living* individuals. And we would all do well to follow their example. How would you feel if you went

19. [RIGENWEB] Bourque - Poirier marriage [0.977409]
I'm been asked by a non-English speaking /writing descendant of EXILIA POIRIER and DELIA BOURQUE to look up & confirm the marriage of that couple, at Sacred Heart Church in 1881, and, if possible, to have a scanned image of the original record. I'm assuming the church is Sacred Heart in Pawtucket, but is there another Sacred Heart in RI? As I'm in California, I really can't help this man myself. If anyone could help or has a suggestion, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! Loree Muldowney

Thanks, Bonnie. What really bothers me about this woman is all the folks that she might have seriously deterred from researching their own family history due to her scurrilous manner? She was just so goshed darned pleased with herself that 'her family' arrived at Ellis Island in the early 20th Century. She was scanning all sorts of film and screaming out German words and wanting to know their English meanings. I don't know German, I don't speak German, I can't even READ German but she kept yelling

And also on my mother's VA side, four male children were given the Bruce middle name. The mother, a Drake, was trying to tell the world something, or she was severely demented. It turned out that her mother was a Bruce but it took a lot of digging to find that maiden name.
