Cousins, I was looking through Administrators Bonds & Letters yesterday, I hope someone can explain the following.
We, Jesse L. Rogers are bound to the State of Tennessee, in the penalty of one hundred thousand ($100,000.00) dollars.
Witness our hands and seals, this 11 day of January A.D. 1897.
The condition of this obligation is such, That whereas the above bound Jesse L. Rogers has been appointed Administrator of the Estate of C.H.Rogers, deceased.
It goes on to say Jesse lives in Knox Co. C.H. Rogers d
Kay & Ray,
Here is something that McKinzie once wrote about Lewis Moon Rogers:
"Uncle Steven Rogers told me that his uncle Lew, who had a phenomenal
memory, told him much of what he has learned about the Rogers family, and he
attribures his early interest in his family to the stories and facts passed
on to him by his uncle."

Kay,
I don't have anything more about Lewis Moon Rogers. An explanation might be
found in the court records about the time his father or mother died.
Sorry I couldn't help.
Ray
I've been observing for some time and with great interest the exchange here
on our Rogers "listserv."
I have little to add to what's being discussed relative to Maj. David et al
as most of what I know about the earlier generations has come from the
exceptional work of Ruth (Dyer) Adams, Ben H. Peters Jr., Joyce
(Adams)(Olson) Whitlock, Nancy Dean (Honeycutt)(Sparks) Crane, and Zella
(Rogers) Dallas--and printed sources like "Old Speedwell Families..."

Kay & all others,
Kay, thanks again for the good information you have dug up. I've taken a
look at the folks involved to see if I could determine who they all are. I
have annotated my findings in ( ). I welcome your comments and any
additional information:
I am not sure when the sale was held but the inventory was submitted to the
court by Willis D Alder, Admin. It was sworn to and subscribed in open court
on the 6th day of March 1843.
In attendance was Dr James Rogers (This must be Dr. James Asb

Ray,
You did a great job with the transactions on the land. I got really
bogged down just thinking about it. I learned something about "e-mail
organization" from you. Thanks.
I have gone all through the census records and Lewis is listed like
anyone else until the 1870 census. The column which indicates whether one is
deaf & dumb, blind, insane, idiotic, pauper or convict is not marked until
then. Never is there an indication that he can't read and write I wonder

Jerry,
Do you have any evidence that William, eldest son of Benjamin (the
immigrant) lived in TN with his siblings? There are records of the selling
of land in Wythe County and then his presence in Adair County KY some years
later.
Barbara
Kay
A couple of years ago I found the following information via the web which I
had included in my data on Hu Lawson White Rogers. Do you have information
on your Mary White??? Was she the daughter of Hugh Lawson White????? Or
related in some way???????
I will post this again for those who might be interested.......
Who was Hugh Lawson White?????????
His father was James White a pioneer, born in Iredell County, NC in 1737.
James died in Knoxville Tn in 1815. He was a soldier during the Rev War.
Barbara,
No, I have seen nothing that would indicate that William b. 1748 went to NE
Tennessee with his brothers John (TPM) b. 1757, Benjamin (Jr) b. 1756, or
Joseph b. 1758.
Anyone else have any data on this?
Jerry
Kay & all others,
I think Jerry was right on most of the ID's. The following are my ideas.
Jerry wrote: Dr Wm Rogers (Dr. Rev. William Rogers b. 1777, son of John
"TPM") bought gears, rifle, gun pouch & horn, 3 cat stacks and one tea
board total
$16.45.
Rev. Dr. Wm. Rogers b. 1777-1836 was deceased at this time. I believe the Dr.
Wm. Rogers in this case was Major David's son Wm Rogers 1801-1862.
