My g grandmother , Ellen Rooney, was married in Belfast in 1860. Her father was Hugh Rooney, a sawyer (butcher).
She was 21 yrs when she married John O'Brien. O'Brien was 25, a serg't stationed at Belfast Barracks.
I would guess Hugh Rooney was b. @ 1810 or earlier. Probably in Belfast, C

Am searching for Patrick Henry Rooney who lived in Akron, Ohio, then Florida. His father was Thomas Rooney and I believe his mother's name was Leah. He was married at one time to an O'Brien. They had 3 children before he left for military service. Would appreciate any information.

Rob,
I know little of the Rooneys in my family but will tell you what I
feel to be true.
I have the death cert for my g-grandmother dated 1896, Mary Rooney,
which says "from" County Leitrim.
Nothing more is known of her place in Ireland.
There are several names on my grandfather, and his brothers and
sister's birth certs, which list the names of Ellen Rooney, Bridget
Rooney, John Rooney and Ann Rooney as sponsors. These dates are from
Holy Cross Parish, 1873 to 1878 and are all from Brooklyn, N
Does anyone know anything further about Arthur's father Dan Rooney and
his family?
Thanks
Denis

Does anyone have a connection with Rooneys from County Leitrim?
In the USA around 1850 onward there were Mary, my g-grandmother,
Ellen, Bridget, John and Ann.
They lived in Kings County, New York, possibly in Flatbush.

Richard, my great-grandfather was Mark Rooney from Manorhamilton in County
Leitrim. He came to the USA in 1875 and settled in Paterson, New Jersey. I
do not know the names of his parents or whether he had any siblings. He and
his wife, Sarah Lee Rooney from Glencar in County Leitrim, had 9 children,
including my grandmother, Mary Rooney Keyes, all born in Paterson. My
g-grandfather died in 1933. I would like to learn more about your Rooneys to
see if we can find a connection. Since Kings County is no
