2. [ROOTS-L] Re: History? How accurate? [1]
It is quite clear that the blurb supposedly about the 1500's is almost 100% whimsy, invented for the purpose of providing amusement to the reader. It succeeds very well at being funny, but it should not be taken seriously. John Chandler
3. [ROOTS-L] MA Vital Records 1600-1849 [1]
The transcription and uploading of the Early Massachusetts vital records are proceeding slowly but surely. As I stated before, I have started with Ipswich. We are still working on births. So far, all of the A's, D's, E's, F's, G's and H's are done. Some of the Newbury pages have been transcribed by a volunteer and I will try to get them up this weekend. I would like to thank all of the people who have taken some of their personal time to help: Arleen, Connie, D. James, Doreen, Judith, Lee, Lynde and
4. [ROOTS-L] Subject: Sauvies Island Oregon [1]
I am very familiar with he Island. It's on the west side of the Willamette River between the St Johns Bridge and the town of Scappoose (on the road to St Helens). St Johns used to be a seperate town but is now part of Portland. It is off of US 30 a few miles NW of Portland... It is in Multnomah County. It is maily still farmland and a wildlife sanctuary. Could your line be related to the 'Jennings Lodge' Jennings? About 10 miles upriver on the eastbank between the towns of Milwaukie and Gladstone

11. [ROOTS-L] FamilyDiscovery [0.968259]
Like many of you, I received a pitch from FamilyDiscovery that makes it sound like, for about $60, one can access more data than is possible for just about any other geneal. website. I have been been disappointed in Ancestry, and wonder if FamilyDiscovery is any better -- or will I find after joining that I have to pay extra for the real goodies? Have any of you had experience with FamilyDiscovery? Yvonne Barnthouse Williams
12. [ROOTS-L] Ancestry's census online [0.968259]
Like Cindy L. Norton, I, too, was quite happy with my rootsweb membership and I join her in my disappointment over my Ancestry membership. After paying my annual fee for Ancestry, I find that there will be extra fees to pay for their online census records. How many other offerings will they charge additional fees for? I really miss the access to data offered by Rootsweb for a nominal yearly donation. Yvonne B. Williams

I would like to thank the person who sent the Valley Forge Muster Roll link. I discovered that my 5th great-grandfather William White III was at Valley Forge. I thought he had only been in one battle since he was only 14. My information only had his older brother Henry at the encampment to find out their brother Ichabod was there too. Again thank you Valerie Reynolds

William Green was a charter member of the 2nd charter of VA 1609...came to VA 1612, according to"History of Jones Co Ga 1807-1907" by Carolyn White Williams. Does anyone have further information about him such as who he married, their childrens' names, where his children lived after marrying? Edward,1707-1780, of Culpepper and Brunswick, Va, a lineal descendant of William Green, married Elizabeth (Betty) Powell 1709*1737. We are in the same boat with you. We have an Alexander Miller born about 1820 in Tennessee. 24. [ROOTS-L] VINCENT A. HIPP: dob:5/19/1884; OH>CA>? [0.968259]
VINCENT HIPP, where are you? My great uncle moved to CA from OH in the early 1900's. In Dec., 1906, according to an obituary, he was at the deathbed of my grandfather in Goldfield, NV. That's the last documentation I have on him. Does this name ring a bell with anyone? My Dad's family always spoke of him living and working out of San Francisco, specifically, on a boat going up and down the river to Sacramento. (Is this possible?) Supposedly, he fell overboard and drowned--date of this event unknown.
