Hello fellow Runciman researchers, Firstly, please note my change of address, due to a surfeit of "not very nice spam". Last year I did visit Dunbar and the parish church and I noted down some MIs on the graves. I must stress that sometimes the inscriptions were not very clear. Erected by Thos RUNCIMAN Seaman Dunbar to the Memory of his son ? who died in infancy MDCCCXIX Erected by Charles MACKAY in memory of his father CHARLES MACKAY who died 15 Sept 1873. Also his mother Jane RUNCIMAN who died 7 Jany
3. [RUNCIMAN] Lord Runciman and William H Bavidge [1]
My Great Grandfather William H Bavidge (born abt 1869 in North Shields) worked within the shipping industry and at some time lost his leg and was fitted with a false limb. There is a story in the family that he met with a Lord Runciman who also was supposed to have had a false leg(not confirmed). Although, it is not known how they originally met, they were supposed to have met annually to walk the steps to the top of Marsden Rock. If anyone can collaborate this story, I would be immensely grateful
