Here's everything I could dig up on Arthur James Sackett. It's very interesting what the two different newspapers reported. He was from Fond du Lac and it's paper reported favorably to him. His wife was from Washington, DC, and the paper there said he was basically a scoundrel. I can't figure out what happened to his children. I've tried finding them under Sackett, Sanger and Harrington. Maybe they were adopted out to a different family afterall. Sad. I will continue with his brother Edwin Hiram and

Well, you've managed to "dig up" another "new guy" for us to make a
connection for !!
After I read your post, I spent several hours looking for a connection for
Dr. Howard Treat Sackett. I believe I finally found the connction but will
need a couple of census reports before we can know whether or not my theory
is credible.
The items in the articles you posted which give vital clues are;
1) He was born in Tallmadge, OH;
2) There were 5 brothers and four sisters in his parents' family;
3) Dr. C. C.

My trip to DC has been cut short by all the events here but I have George's record (don't remember how far into the alphabet I ordered this time) I will make sure that I copy it. Maybe there will be more in it. If not it will be Aug before I get back. I really am hoping (but not hopful) that I will get the records done this year. Of course part of the problem is not all the records are at the archives, since those that died later are kept else where (have not figured out that rule yet), and sometimes I have

Ted's post concerning the family of Levi Dewey Sackett and his family raises
a question concerning his wives.
According to Weygant, p. 234 Dewey Sacket married (1) Sarah E. Palmer on 13
Apr 1859; (2) Harriet Palmer on 21 Feb 1873.
As stated in my previous post; Dewey Sacket is listed in the 1860 census
with his wife Sarah and in the 1870 census he is listed with Ariet M. as his
wife. According to the cemetery listing posted by Ted; Ariet M. died in
1871.
Doing a search of the 1880 census I find:

I thank you for the added information [I think]. It just proves the old
saying that "if you dig around in the past, you're going to find some
skeltons in the closet."
I believe that the Washington Post probably had more accurate information
than the paper in Fond du Lac, WI. The Post did have some court records and
police reports available that were not available in WI. And what was
reported in the Fond du Lac paper would reflect what Arthur's family
believed to be his situation.
