I am in need of a "Photo Copy" of a will for Joseph Watkins.
He wrote his will May 06, 1827. It was probated August 29, 1829.
I am told it is a "Floating Will". Not in any Will books. It is located in
Anderson Co.
I would really appreciate any one that can help me on this.
Thank you
Cathy
I live in Anderson, current coordinator for the Anderson County website.
This is something
I would like to check into. BUT the more information I have as to when, who,
etc the decision was made will benefit me as to who I need to talk to in
Anderson. I will make a few calls and ask some questions.
I personally as an Anderson citizen would like to know why records were
solely given to one organization rather than to the public.

Jason Milton Wriley Harper, my gggrandfather, was born April 21,1821. On
November 12, 1846 he married Sarah Elizabeth White daughter of Jesse
White/Elizabeth Brooks, granddaughter of William White/Mary Early. The White's were in
the old Pendleton Dist./Anderson Co. until 1802 when they moved across the
Savannah River to Elbert Co., GA. I'm stuck trying to find the parents, siblings,
birth place, etc. of Jason Milton Wriley Harper. Family history has it that
he landed in Charleston, SC from Ireland

Hi Verne,
You are correct that most of those original records have been transferred to
Columbia. However, copies of those records (and some originals) can be
found in any one of several locations. Anderson Co has most of the OPD
records but the real early ones could also be in Abbeville Co. The Old
Pendleton Historical Society also has some records.

I have some on Tyre Boon that m. Mary Alexander. He was the s/o Ratiff

Howdy all!
I've been working on the site again (for those that are new
http://www.scgenealogy.com/pickens ) and noticed that we haven't had anything sent in for
several catagories. I know ya'll have some records of your family that could be
posted. :)
Q & A...
QUESTION: Why should I send stuff in?
ANSWER: There are actually several great answers for this question! First,
the more you send in, the better your chances are for hooking up with other
researchers who you can share information with. Th
Verne,
Of course I have a GILSTRAP link but it won't make us more related, I don't
guess! My mother's mother, Cora Lee THOMAS, married Lester Ephraim GILSTRAP
first, had three sons, then Lester died. Next, she married Wm. Elkanah
Marchbanks GREER, and had my mother, followed by two more boys.
I have a good bit of the GILSTRAP data bec. my Uncle L. A. GILSTRAP left an
only child who left an only child, Jeannie Whitlock HOFFMANN. Jeannie and I
are and have always been very close; that's good bec. we have

Susan,
saw your message to Traci. I am a descendant of Tyree Glenn. Don't have time
to send you anything today, but would like to compare notes on the Glenn's.
I live about 45 minutes from Salt Lake City and I will contact Traci and
offer to look up her families in OPD as I am going to SLC next week and will
be helping a friend trace her MORTON ancestors in OPD.
Good luck in your searching

I was in Anderson last October and went to the archives several times and no
one was there. Then while leaving the building I ran into Mr. Watkins who
was returning from lunch. He informed me that the archives are not open to
the public. The article in the paper leads one to think they are open to
the public.
Hello ALL,
Due to health and other personal considerations, I have ceased my major
genealogy activities. I have for a number of years researched the surnames
CADDELL (& variations inc CALDER), GREEN, HENDERSON, ANDERSON, GREER, BANKS,
BATTLE(S), BELL, BU(I)RCHFIELD, KENNAMER, KING, and SINGLETON wherever they lived.
For any of you who desires further contact with me, I may still be reached at
"bcaddell@hcnews.com". Shortly I will not be subscribed to any of the Rootsweb
lists.

Hi all!,
I attempted to order the indexes for the Old Pendleton District land records from the LDS Family History Center. I was told that those microfilms are no longer circulated to local centers. No reason given.
Can anyone confirm that the OPD land records are still available for viewing at the Greenville Co. Public Library?
Much thanks,
Melissa

Do you Yahoo!?
The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier. Bingo.
I went to the Abbeville Court House in 2001 and got a copy of Letters of
Administration for my ggg grandfather. When I told the lady what I wanted
she told me to go and get it in the safe. When I made sure that it was the
packet that I wanted she made the copies for me. When I returned home it
referenced a page in another book and I wrote and told them what I missed.
They sent me the page at no charge--but that was 2 years ago.

Sure, they're available at Greenville. And other libraries. For some
reason Anderson Co restricted their films to use only in the LDS Library at
Salt Lake and not for distribution. Unfortunately Anderson Co was also the
repository for the OPD records. Pickens Co [and other SC counties] can be
ordered with no problem. Something to do with the office of the county
clerk there in Anderson Co and it is their prerogative to do such things
regarding their records.
