This KING family lived in Anderson County, Pendleton District probably
from the early 1700's to perhaps after the Revoltionary War, when they
apparently went north to Wilkes County, NC, then back south to Hall County,
GA. Some of them may have remained in SC.
Traditions of the King Family inform us that they were of

My father, James Daniel Hudgens, was born (1907) and raised in Williamston,
SC (Anderson County). His father was Willis Leard Hudgens (1852)of Laurens
County, SC. His grandfather was John B. (Jackie) Hudgens (1824). There
were 9 children in my father's family. His mother was Nettie Daniel Hudgens.
His brother, Tom "Mitch" Hudgens lived in Williamston
I don't have any clues to Michael's father's name. As for Mary Jane McKee-
her dates are 1843-1928. Does this sound like yours? The daughter of James
McKee and Sarah Cunningham? Mary Jane McKee had three daughters. I know
that Michael Simpson and Mary Jane McKee are buried in the Rocky River
Baptist Church Cemetery, as well as their daughter Dora Simpson(who may have
the last name of Todd on her stone).
I sure hope that there is a connection here. I'd like to someday see my

there was an Abbeville, and there were four names for Anderson, because they

Hi Cindy,
Did you ever get an answer about the locations of the Rocky River Baptist
Church Cemetery? If so, would you share it with me? My husband and I
found the church once, but if I remember correctly, he date on the sign for
the beginning of the church was later than the dates of death for the
people we were trying to find. We asked around, and were told to go "down
the road", but we never did find any other cemetery of that name. If you
find out, I would really like to know about it.

Morning Rose, I dont "think" we're related. I dont reconize the names.
My Hudgens came from Greenville Co to Williamston to Pelzer. They started
out as Hodgens in the late 1700's. My GGGrandfather was the one who used
Hudgens. There were alot of Hudgens around Laurens Co and they are on the

I'm researching a Gilmer family in Anderson County and have just gotten a deed
that mentions a Lemuel Buckhanon. Is he one of yours? I don't know much
about these Gilmers so am pursuing any kind of lead at all!
Lemuel Buckhanon sold to G.W. Gilmer, 50 acres on Richland Creek. Book B-2,
p. 3 and 4 and was recorded on Dec. 22, 1852.
George Washington Gilmer bought this land 9 Nov. 1852, and sold it on 11 Oct.,
1855. He purchased it from Lemuel Buckhanon, and the purchase was witnessed

Since we're on the subject of the King family, does anyone have any knowledge
of Dorcas Tobitha King, b. 8/29/1807, married 5/11/1823 to Alfred Moore, son
of David Moore, 12 children, lived in Anderson and Oconee Counties, died
sometime in 1880s, and buried probably at Rhuhamah Church near Liberty, SC?
Any information or leads would be greatly appreciated.
