Warmer weather is just around the corner and some of us will be out and
about in our local cemeteries hunting down our ancestors. This is my humble plea
to all of my fellow cemetery enthusiasts. If you can't read a stone or it
doesn't photograph well, PLEASE do not use shaving cream on it. Not only will
the shaving cream eat away at the stone and damage it, but using shaving
cream on stones might be considered vandalism. I know I would pretty upset if I
found out someone used shavin
Services for James Earl Campbell will be held Sunday at 4:00 P.M. in East
Dillon Baptist Church with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Visitation is 7-9 Saturday in Cooper Funeral Home.
Mr. Campbell, 65, died Thursday in McLeod Medical Center in Dillon.
Born in Dillon County, March 20, 1943, he was the son of John C. Campbell and
the late Virgie Miller Campbell. He was retired from CSX Railroad, was
devoted to the police department, and loved horses. He was a dedicated Huddle
House customer.

Flora Kate Gray, 84, died Thursday, March 12, 2009, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday in Cooper Funeral Home
Chapel with entombment in Evergreen Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be 2:00 -
3:00 P.M. Saturday prior to the service in the funeral home.
Born in Dillon County, November 23, 1924, she was the daughter of the late
James Council Elkins and Govie Elizabeth Ivey Elkins. She attended Dillon
Church of God, and was a member of the McLeod Medical Center Aux
Services for Evelyn W. Hamilton will be held Tuesday at 3:30 P.M. in Cooper
Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation is 7-9 P.M.
Monday in the funeral home.
Mrs. Hamilton, 75, died Sunday in McLeod Regional Medical Center.
Born in Dillon County, July 19, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Lester
Williams and Gladys Adeline Williams. She was a member of the Dillon Church
of God.
Survivors include her husband, Marion Hamilton of Dillon; daughter, Janice G.

CONWAY - Lois Elizabeth J. Weatherford, age 87, of Hwy. 905, wife of the
late G.M. Weatherford, died Friday, March 6, 2009, at Loris Community Hospital.
Mrs. Weatherford was born in Darlington, SC, a daughter of the late Fred P.
and Lois Stewart Jordan. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Mrs.
Weatherford was predeceased by one son, George M. Weatherford, Jr.; one brother
and two sisters.
Surviving are two sons, Mike Weatherford and wife Mary and Tad Weatherford
and wife Lynda, all
Herbert Clyde Taylor, Sr., of Mt. Pleasant, SC, husband of the late
Myrtle Dean Anderson Taylor, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2009. The relatives
and friends of Herbert Clyde Taylor, Sr. are invited to attend his funeral
service on Thursday, March 5, 2009 in First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant at
2:00 o'clock. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The

HOWELL, Mildred Mildred "Tootsie" Stone Howell, 77, of Folly Beach, went to
be with the Lord on March 5, 2009. Tootsie was born in Dillon, a daughter of
the late Zingle Lee Stone and Mandy Nettles Stone. She was a 50 year member of
Folly Beach Baptist Church where her funeral will be held on Monday, March
9, 2009 at two o'clock, with the Reverend Boyd Broad officiating. Visitation
will be at the church from twelve (noon) until the time of the service. Burial
will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gard

Congregational Holiness Church with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation

Mr. Rowell, 63, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at McLeod Regional Medical
Center in Florence.
