In the book, "Cemeteries of Upper Colleton County South Carolina," under the
Patrick (Hucks-Liston) Cemetery is H. (Henry) B. Harbeson, b. 2/8/1813 St.
Georges Parish, d. 8/9/1876. Buried beside him is Mrs. E. A. Harbeson, b.
11/30/1828, d. 5/5/1877.
Does anyone know if the letters "E. A." have been transposed and this really
is Ann Eliza Hiers Harbeson?

Both Mellard and Mallard are Dorchester Co. names. We know people by both
names from St. George. A Mellard friend told me that the Mellards weren't
related to the Mallards, and vice versa, but I feel sure if you search
far enough back, they are. According to the Dorchester Co. area phone book,
there are Mellards/M

That is great information. It raises two questions:
1. 60 years takes us back to 1776 from 1836. Do you know where he lived
between 1753 and 1776?
2. Do you know who Elisha Mellard's parents were?
did anyone in your lines move to dorchester GA?

Has a researcher located a passenger list with the Mellard/Mallard surname?
The Dorchester, England theory of an immigration route through Dorchester,
Mass. to Dorchester County, SC, would be a typical one.
The existing version of the name locally is MALLARD.
