Judith, You might try contacting the South Caroliniana Library at the University of South Carolina. I don't have the URL but they can be accessed through the University website. Whitfield Butler BROOKS Sr. (b. 1789, d. 28 December 1851)? Several references to those record books/diaries were made by Orville Vernon Burton in his book "In My Father's House There Are Many Mansions: Family & Community in Edgefield, South Carolina." You might want to personally check with the Caroliniana Library, as they have Brooks papers. The index might not list the individuals included in the papers.
