Does anyone recognize either the bride or groom as a Marlboro
citizen?
"01 MAR 1838 James David, Esq. to Catharine McInnis"
The data above was included in a list of marriages performed in
Marion District, SC, and contributed by Sam West to the
Marion County web site.
When I saw the DAVID surname, I instantly thought of a possible
Marlboro connection and of course with the McINNIS, I wondered
if the bride might be one of your kinfolk, Bill.

Victoria

A "heads up" for y'all--
We've been told that Rootsweb plans some down time of its
servers on Friday which will affect all mailing lists (like this
one), and the GenConnect Boards, and I believe it will affect
its hosted web sites as well.
The down time will probably last a good 24 hours, so please be
patient.
Cheers,

Hi, Glenn,
Thank you so much for your e-mail. It was most helpful. The books you cited
are exactly what I am looking for.
John Hodges' niece Rachel, daughter of John's brother Henry, also married a
Cherry.
She is identified as Rachel Cherry in a deed of gift Henry made to his 8
children, 16 Nov 1802.
I was delayed in responding to you because I initially had problems with the
Bass web page...but finally I got into it and it was really interesting. I
appreciate your citing it.
Thanks again.

I received this from one of my other mailing lists and thought that it
was good enough to pass it on.

I have found on various headstones, where there are 3 links of a chain(?),
and inside each link is a letter - F L T.
This is the symbol for the Oddfellows organization--3 interlocking oval
rings. The F.L.T. stands for friendship, love and truth.
Here is a list of other common (and not so common) tombstone symbols. You
might want to print this off and carry it with you when you g

Hi Joan, I am also researching the same Hodges, I have researched back to
Capt. George Hodges, (have his will) his son R.G.W. (also have his will)
& have verbal info. from my last living Aunt, cemtary tombstones, etc.
also have information from others on the Hodges before that, but have not
checked it myself, I will get this all together & send to you,
Which line do you come down from?
My husbands band had practice here tonight & I am tired, lol, but will get
back to you soon with info.

Dear Victoria, I have been unable to open the 1825 map. Yahoo/GeoCities
says that it is not available via Yahoo. I also tried the Google search
engine and that didn't work either. All I get is a cover page with some
1600 hits since Feb 2, but no map. Love, Bill in Baltimore

The 1825 map of Marlborough District is now available for printing:
I split the map into six sections and made each section as close
to 8-1/2x11" as possible so that you wouldn't have too much
trimming to do when you assembled the parts.

Joan,
Charleston was the providential capital of the Colony of South Carolina
and all records prior Revolutionary War was recorded there. You will find

County Records.
There are a number of books available with extracted data concerning
the time period you are looking for. Several authors have extracted the

I had a note by Jacob Ralph Little that says he was a Methodist minister.
That would make me wonder if he was the same as John R. However, I also

makes me wonder if Jacob Ralph would have been a grandson of Daniel Little
instead of a son. Thanks. Larry
