1. Re: [SCMARLBO-L] DARBY'S BAY [1]
Joanne, I do not know the answers to your questions, but a strange middle-name connection in the HERNDON family to these 2 names. My husband's name is GLEN DARBY HERNDON b.24Nov1927 and his brother's name was CHARLES McLEOD HERNDON b.29Nov1925 d.14Jan1988. Strange...and today is Friday 13th with a Full moon!!! How about that? Blessings, Laura Herndon
2. [SCMARLBO-L] King & Turnage Families in Chesterfield Co., SC area [1]
Hi, I hope some King and Turnage family researchers can help me with a real mystery. I am trying to trace my paternal grandmother's (Nettie King Neely Riley) family. I know her parents were Eddie King and Margaret (maiden name unsure) King. I wonder if Eddie and Margaret could be George Edward King and Margaret Elizabeth Turnage? My Eddie and Margaret had a son, Lonnie O. King (1890-1931), and two daughters, Nettie King Neely Riley (about 1896-1958) and unknown name (maybe Pauline). They were of French

4. [SCMARLBO-L] Henly-Henegan [1]
I know there were a lot of Evans around so they probably had a lot of connections. I will keep an eye out for a Henly-Henegan connection. Thank you for responding. Joanne Harley New Bern,NC harleyclan@coastalnet.com

6. [SCMARLBO-L] Evans?/McLeod/ DARBY'S BAY [1]
Do not know if anyone on this listserve is working on the EVANS line or not, but I have some questions. First of all, I have been following the land purchases of a Daniel MacLeod ( ca. 1760-1833) in Marlboro Co. He bought several acres of land from Darby Hendley and his land in later years was mentioned as being near Darby's Bay and the Three Creeks. Daniel Macleod was married to Catherine EVANS, daughter of William EVANS, Jr. On one of the deeds where Darby *HENLY/HENDLEY was selling land to Roderick
7. Re: [SCMARLBO-L] James W. Ivey & Elizabeth, Marlboro, SC lived about 1825-190... [1]
I have James W. Ivey and wife, Elizabeth Quick in my database. Elizabeth was the daughter of James and Mary Quick. Elizabeth was born 1820, d. 1902. James, b. 1821, d. 1900. The children I have listed are William, b. abt 1854, Franklin Hugh, b. 23 Sept. 1854 d. 23 Aug. 1933; Laurence b. abt 1858; James, b. abt 1859; Levi, b.19 March 1861 d. 10 Oct. 1910. It appears that Franklin also married a Quick--Lizzie May, b. 1881, d. 1912. I don't know who her parents were. They aren't on my line of Quick
8. Re: [SCMARLBO-L] Evans?/McLeod/ DARBY'S BAY [1]
Joanne Harley, You don't suppose that that Darby Hendly could have been one of the HENAGAN family? The EVANS families were related in some way through marriage, if I recall from some of my research. Also, I believe, there were Darby Henagans in several generations. Also, with Swinney-Henagan and Henagan-Swinney, Henagan or Swinney (all the same family), misspelling is possible. Just an idea or undocumented theory. Martha Henagan Luby

Thanks to Mr. Johnson50's tracker program- I have stumbled over information that I've been trying to locate on the above family. I know I've heard some of these names tossed around here in this mailing list but I tuned them out because I did not recognize them (lesson to be learned here) According to the info in Tracker program t

I am working on the Grays from Marlboro County. I have not seen any Darby's as last names, but several family members have Darby as a first name. Betty
12. [SCMARLBO-L] DARBY'S BAY [1]
IS ANONE FAMILIAR WITH A PLACE CALLED DARBY'S BAY, WHICH IS DOWN NEAR THE THREE CREEKS ? IT DOES NOT SHOW UP ON ANY OF MY MAPS. IS ANYONE WORKING ON A DARBY LINE? I HAVE SEEN DARBY HENDLEY MENTIONED IN DEEDS, AND HAVE NOW SEEN A WOMAN WITNESSING A DEED IN 1770 NAMED TABITHA DARBY. WORKING ON EARLY MACLEOD/MCLEOD FAMILIES THAT LIVED ON LAND AT DARBY'S BAY AND THE THREE CREEKS. TRYING TO LOCATE AN EARLY HOMESTEAD/CHURCH/CEMETERY AREA. Joanne H. harleyclan@coastalnet.com
13. [SCMARLBO-L] Pre-1860 McAlister Query [1]
Since late 1770 when my ancestor immigrated from Scotland to the Wagram (Montpelier) area of present Scotland Co, I had at least 25 McAlister kin who lived and died prior to 1860 in old Richmond Co, Robeson Co, Moore Co NC and adjoining Old Marion Co and Marlboro Co SC, yet I can find no burial places for any McAlisters in any of these counties prior to 1860. As far as I know from 10 years of research, all the McAlisters in these areas were my family. Can anyone help me? Bill in Baltimore, MD
14. [SCMARLBO-L] Barrentine family [1]
My Grandfather William Jefferson Barentine 1909-1980 was the son of Sidney Jefferson Barrentine. They lived in Holmes County Florida & Columbus, Muskogee County, Georgia during their lifetimes but they were supposedly from the Carolina's originally. Family legend has it that there was intermarriage with Cherokee & Choctaw Indians along the way. A fellow Barrentine researcher recommended that I try the Marlboro County South Carolina area. So if anyone on the list has any Barrentine information I would love t
