I have been searching for a long time, trying to find a particular James FORSYTH. Does anyone actually know how many James FORSYTHs there are in Aberdeen alone? I think that must have been one of the most popular names. My particular James FORSYTH was the father to my GGrandmother Ann FORSYTH. Her mother was Jane DUNCAN who never did marry James Forsyth or marry at all, as noted on the 1881 Census - Jane DUNCAN, unmarried 67 Cairney, Aberdeen . "James Forsyth had by Jane Duncan an illegitimate d

12. Re: [SCT-BANFFSHIRE] SCT-BANFFSHIRE Digest, Vol 3, Issue 107 [1]
Hi Linda Your message does not give any indication of the relationship of Agnes Forsyth and Flora Bain to John Bain. I have done some searching using Ancestry for these two names but without their ages at death or dates of birth it is difficult to know if i am looking at the correct entries. As regards Agnes Forsyth I have found a 1891 Census entry for her showing she was born in Cullen, Banff but living in Forres at the time of the 1891 Census and her age is given as 59 (born 1832). On that

Hi Ian Yes this entry for Agnes Forsyth (nee Bain) is correct but has her age wrong, she was born abt 1826, have yet to find her birth entry, she and Flora born 1834 are sisters and daughters of John Bain born abt1800 and Flora Gillies born abt1798. Isabella born abt 1830 I have no information on other than the 1841 &1851 census and John born 1838 also no information other than 1841 & 1851 census. I would be interested in trying to find them after 1851. Another son Daniel born abt 1831 does not appea

I have been researching birth witnesses from old parish records (Deskford) trying to figure out some relationships. Does anyone have any idea what age would be considered too young to be a birth witness? I have been arbitrarily using the age of 20, but I have found some who I strongly feel might have been witnesses at 16 or 17. Jim Reid Everett, WA. USA
