Hi everyone,
This week you can get free access to various databases
on line (from the 10th to the 16th April).
The big draw card is "The Times Digital Archive" but
also well worth a search is the "Eighteenth Century
Collections Online", last time there was free access I
managed to download a book of poetry and some plays of
my 5 times great-grandfather James Mylne of Lochill,
Aberlady, ELN published posthumously in 1790, included
in the list of subscribers is Robert Burns.

Hello
Does anyone know where I can find information regarding the Dalkeith &
Westfield Brass Band C1876? Also, was the English School at Dalkeith for the
children of men serving in the Army?
Thank you,

Dear members, I hope someone reading this can help me. Many years ago -
1940s/50s we used to visit a smallholding in Thorntonloch and go there for
holidays - just recently I was back in the area but it is filled with
chalets and caravans and nothing looked familiar - would anyone on the list
have some pictures of Thorntonloch in the 1940s/50s that they could perhaps
share with me to see if some old memories can be rekindled.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing from someone.
Kind regard
When William DAVIDSON was born, 4 August 1857, Woodhall, Pencaitland, his
Mother Janet DAVIDSON was unmarried.
She later married Thomas LIVINGSTON in Nov 1859.
William was " wifes son " in 1861, census.
When Wllm. married Mary GILCHRIST , 1878, he married as
William LIVINGSTON , when he died 1929, his death was Regd., as,
Livingstone or Davidson, he was living 3 Downie Place, Musselburgh.
The informant was T. Coulter, Son in Law.
Is anyone researching any of this family ? Would love to make contact.

Leanne,
If he was born in1855 or later he should be in Scotlands People. You could
try variations of the names.
If he was born earlier, he may be in the Old Parish Registers but there is
no guarantee of that. I think only Church of Scotland registers have been
filmed , so births in non-conformist or R.C. churches are very difficult to
trace.

Mary
