Dear members, I hope someone reading this can help me. Many years ago - 1940s/50s we used to visit a smallholding in Thorntonloch and go there for holidays - just recently I was back in the area but it is filled with chalets and caravans and nothing looked familiar - would anyone on the list have some pictures of Thorntonloch in the 1940s/50s that they could perhaps share with me to see if some old memories can be rekindled. When William DAVIDSON was born, 4 August 1857, Woodhall, Pencaitland, his Mother Janet DAVIDSON was unmarried. She later married Thomas LIVINGSTON in Nov 1859. William was " wifes son " in 1861, census. When Wllm. married Mary GILCHRIST , 1878, he married as William LIVINGSTON , when he died 1929, his death was Regd., as, Livingstone or Davidson, he was living 3 Downie Place, Musselburgh. Leanne, If he was born in1855 or later he should be in Scotlands People. You could try variations of the names. If he was born earlier, he may be in the Old Parish Registers but there is no guarantee of that. I think only Church of Scotland registers have been filmed , so births in non-conformist or R.C. churches are very difficult to trace.
