the Liddesdale border area so let me give a few details of John LIDDELL9s

G'day ,
I am trying to find the correct date of birth, place of birth and
confirm the parents of John Black GRACIE who married Jess Mitchel LEBURN
on 26 SEP 1818 Edinburgh Parish, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.
From his testament I find that John Black Gracie Esquire was writer to
the Signet and Commissary Clerk of Edinburgh at the time of his decease,
which happened at Caverhill, in the county of Peebles, on 10 May 1847
and he died worth #7211/17/10 which means he was probably a very

Hi Everyone
My name is Frank McGonigal and I live in Ontario Canada.
I've just received the following from my researcher in Scotland.
William McGonigal below is my Grandfathers half brother.
Looking for descendants of the people listed.
Is anyone researching the following---->
Reference 692/1, Year 1918, Parish Leith North, Entry 180Date/Place
27th September 1918, 57 Dudley Crescent, Leith, after publication
according to the forms of the United Free Church

I am interested to know, exactly what do you get to view .
Is it e.g. the 1901 census, name, age, where born, occupation, where living
now.
Will the " view " show, who else is in the house ?
For e.g. a Death Regd., do you get to " view " the entire details, or only
the age & where died.
I would really like to know the details that you now have.
Mary

Thankyou so much, all of those who have been so helpful in relation to my
inability to use the Scotlands People Site to its full potential.
This week I will endeavour to get it sorted, by again contacting the site.
It seems from what I have been told, that the # 10.0 that I am paying for
the 2 copies , are in fact
official Certificates, & not a copy of the page of the census, in one case,
& a marriage in the other.
An expensive lesson learned !
I hope that I have contacted all, with thanks, on a personal b
Hello Anyone,
Are Scotlandspeople Gov Site having any trouble with people trying to view the records please?
As I am annoyed I have paid #12.00 today to look up Deaths and Births but can only view the list for one credit then when I want to View the Certificate for 5 Credits it will not let me view.
I have 53 credits left but until I can actully view the page and download it I will have to get in touch with them.
So please do anyone know what the Address or Phone number is to Scotlandspeople Gov Site, Is it
Good Evening All....
Is there SVKS out there that could see if they can find my LIDDELL family in
either the 1861 or 1851 census, preferable both!!!?
I am a bit lost as to how to start tracing this family back in Scotland. I
know from the 1881 & 1891 England Census that John LIDDELL was born
Edinburgh c1846. I also know that his daughter Catherine was born at 33 Pier
Terrace, Poplar, Middlesex, England in 1870 although as yet I can not find
the family on the 1871 census. I know John was in London by 1867
Last weekend, I could not view anything, so just had to buy a couple of
things unseen.
I also e mailed & my reply said that that is the way it is. You cannot view
the contents prior to
buying.
Very expensive considering the exchange rate from New Zealand, I wont be
using them again.
The credits run out after 48 hours.

Hello All,
I was wondering if someone could help me with information about Assisted
Passengers.
In 1849 my great Grandparents immigrated to New Zealand on the Lady Nugent
leaving Plymouth 13th December 1849. They were Assisted Steerage
Passengers. David Allan and Agnes McKenzie arrived Nelson on the 10th May
1850.
Would there be any records of these passengers and why they were assisted?
Thank you very much,
Regards,
Desni (from Australia)
Hello Everyone,
I have now sorted out my problem with the Scotlandspeople Gov Site, A very kind lady named Joyce Henderson sorted it out by telling me what I had to do to correct it.
It worked first time I did.
Thank you again everyone for all of your emails with advice.
I really appriiciate it.
Kind Regards

Hello
I am looking for info about my gr-grandparents; David CHALMERS and
Jessie WATSON. David and Jessie were married about 1855-6.
David was born in Liff, Forfar, I believe these are his parents: John Murray
CHALMERS
Agnes Orquhart McKenzie.
I yet to confirm that they are his parents. But, given the name of one of
his daughters I believe that they are.
Jessie Watson born in 1837 in Monkland, Lanark.
