Hello
Can I first off apologise for those of you who receive this message more
than once, because of the nature of my request I have used more than one
list.
I am attempting to sit university papers at a more than mature age, (trying
to catch up with my children and grandchildren). One of these papers deals
with the industrial and agricultural revolution in Europe in general, and
Britain in particular. A part of the knowledge that I am seeking to absorb
is based on the ages, which people married, conceive
G'day Cobbers,
Thanks to the fine work of Ronald MacGregor, from Elgin, and who I thank
very much, I have the following items that I'm hoping will track down living
relatives:
Death Certificate Details:
Alexander McLEAN, Age 60, General Labourer, of 11 Blantyre Terrace,
Ianstown, Buckie. Died 27 May 1937.
Son of Charles McLEAN, Blacksmith (Deceased).
Informant: Robert McLEAN, Son, 11 Blantyre Terrace, Buckie.
Married to: Mary Ann ROBERTSON (?).
Banffshire Advertiser - 3 June 1937
Died suddenly on 27 May
Thanks Val,
I confirmed, this is in the district of St Giles. If listers are 'missing'
an
ancestor from their census page I will look-up on my three pages.
Regards, Jodi

Jodi,
Assuming you mean the district of St Giles (as opposed to a parish name),
Then this will probably be the Royal Infirmary in Lauriston Place.
Greetings, fellow researchers!
Not sure I have actually posted my interests before so here they are:-
Trunk - KINGHORN
Main Branches - CUTHBERTSON, CROLL, ANDERSON
Twigs - BEGBIE, BELL, BLACK, CARFRAE, COCKBURN, COUPER, DUNCAN, GIBSON, GRANT, GREY, GRIEVE, HENDERSON, HOLLIDAY, LANG, LIGHTFOOT, MACINTOSH, MCGRATH, MCKAY, MILES, MURPHY, ODDIE (ADDIE), PRESSLEY, REID, ROBERTSON, SUMMERS, TAYLOR, WALLACE, WHITE, WRIGHT.
Look forward to hearing from anyone who thinks that any of the above looks familiar.

Hi List,
Located my family on the 1901 census, only to discover three members
were missing, not included. I went back and finally found one on a
Susan MONTGOMERY of Edinburgh, age 36 yrs spinster, & William Johnstone
WOODS age 35 yrs., from Leith, married 17 April 1975, in Edinburgh.
Does anyone out there know if they had children ?.
Witnesses were Thomas Woods Hawthorn Bank, South Queenferry, & Marion
Montgomery.
The 2 women were sisters of my Grandmother, & I am finding it difficult to
find any info' about possible children & descendants .

I am trying to trace my ancestory back and the furthest back I can get is James Trotter. I have no birth date for him, but I am assuming that he was born sometime around 1820, plus or minus 5 years. I have from an unconfirmed source that his wife was Agnes Whitehead. They lived in Edinburgh. They had three children that I know of: Jane, born in 1843 and my great-great grandmother; Sarah, and Robert. These were the only children I could find and were listed in the 1919 obituary for Jane. All three emigrated.
Hi, the average age for marriage in my family during the 1800s was 24 for
both men and women. The average ages at death were men 79 years and woman
67. The first child usually born within the first two years. Barbara
I see no reply on the list, so sorry if this has been answered already.
It will be Pierce Hill or Piershill Barracks: the Cavalry Barracks at Jock's
Lodge.

A couple of books may be helpful:

For the last 2 weeks there has been a British Telecom cable fault in this
area of Edinburgh which has denied us (and several of our neighbours) all
telephone and Internet access. We have been informed by BT that the cable
has been repaired earlier today.
A very considerable backlog of messages has now been received. However one
correspondent has pointed out to me that he had been informed that his email
had been "delayed" and was then later told that it was "undeliverable".

Hi Listers,
I have just uncovered a new branch of my family and I would love to have
some assistance.
The family is Adam & Margaret (nee NIVEN) SCOTT. Their first son, Thomas
was born in 1838, I believe, in Edinburgh. He was christened shortly
after in Forteviot near Perth where the parents were married in 1837.
Then they had Margaret SCOTT b. 1840 and christened at St Cuthberts,
Edinburgh, Midlothian (?)
Then John Niven SCOTT b.1842 and christened at St Cuthberts, Edinburgh
Then there was a Mary SCOTT
Hi All,
I have a Thomas BRYCE who married an Isobella ALLAN in St Cuthberts
Church Edingburgh 4th May 1804. I have no children to this couple until
1817 when William was born in Glasgow and Thomas was born in 1823 also
in Glasgow.
Is there anybody on this list researching this family, or could tell me
why I have not offspring until 15 years later?

Thank you Eunice for the explanation..........more than I have had from
BT!!!!!
BT in my experience are not very forthcoming in letting their customers know
of problems and I object strongly to have to pay 50p per minute to call
their help line to be told they don't have a problem when they so obviously
DO!!!

Any Nimmos out there?
It seems a lot of them were named Robert like my great
grandfather, born in Edinburgh in 1837. He moved to
Canada and then Ohio and died in 1917 in Denver.
I'd like to talk (or type) to any Nimmo.

Hi, folks,
My name is Ron Hamilton and I live in Woodley, Cheshire, England. I am
searching for any of the above named who might also be researching their
family history.
My grandmother was Mary Macready. She married William Hamilton back in 1908.
Her father was Robert Macready and he was born in Airdrie in 1850. His father
was Robert Macready born in 1805 in Armargh, Ireland. Robert had two
brothers, Thomas and James, also born in Armagh. Their parents were John and
Mary Macready nee McIlroy. Robe
Greetings all,
Just wanted to check in on the List to say "Hello" and that I look
forward to being a part of the goings on here.
I have ties to the Edinburgh area as my 2nd great grandfather, Robert
Brankston, was a glassblower in Leith in the early 1800s. We can go into
greater detail later, but if anyone out there has Brankston(e)
connections, or knows of someone who does, please get in touch.
My current project is trying to discover information about William
Crichton, Lord Chancellor of Scotland i
After a good deal of searching, I found it! Viewforth Park was part of what
is now Fountainbridge, next to the North British Rubber Company and the
Scottish Vulcanite Company.

Hi,
Someone may be able to advise me is there a organization on the Internet who carries out the "Safe" payment method in/within Scotland that/which protects the Credit Card Holder with a Secure Payment procedure!. The reason I ask is I would like to pay a subscription to "The Scottish Genealogist" and on their Internet Site they warn you the payment is "Note this form will be posted via unsecure e mail Any Credit Card Nos. transmitted will be at your own risk."
Possibly someone may be able to advise,

Good Morning
Can you help me please? Thomas James WYNNE of the 13th Hussars received his indenture papers as a Sergeant Farrier while in that regiment, it states he was in the 13th Hussars at Picis Hill Barracks Edinburgh 1886. I am unable to find any reference to Picis Hill, can anybody help me please? Regards Greta
it does look like a *good* candidate for mistranscription (HAWKES? BARKER?)
- have you tried using wildcards?

Hi,
I was wondering if any Listers may have previously visited the NAS and view
the box containing the Banff Sheriff Court Bonds of Caution SC2/21/3 and the
Procurator Fiscal for Banff Police Reports AD17/2/1 and if so would they
mind letting me know the condition of these documents and how difficult or
easy it may have been researching someone?
I would like to get a fair idea of what's involved before attempting further
research into my family.
Regards,
Brett Prentice
