2. [Mull] Re: AITCHESON [1]
Hi List A Mark Aitcheson e-mailed North Argyll Extracts re the AITCHESONs on the 1841 Census. However, when replied to the e-mail was returned "This user does not have an account with Yahoo.com." If Mark subscribes to the list, or if anyone knows him, would he please get in touch with me with a valid e-mail address. I will then ensure he gets the reply. 5. [Mull] Ardnamurchan [1]
Hi Frank, I can't help you with research information, but you must read "Night Falls on Ardnamurchan, The Twilight of a Crofting Family" by Alasdair MacLean. Also, MacLean mentions a book called "Further Wanderings, Mainly in Argyll" by M. E. M. Donaldson, written ca 1920. She was apparently an English travel writer and well known authority on West Highland topics. Does anyone know about this book? 7. [Mull] Churches - Tobermory and Kinlochspleve [1]
Hi All, As some of you all know I have been adding pictures of churches and burial grounds to the website. During my recent visit I took some photographs and thought I had the names of the churches in a book on Mull that I have. On return I cannot find reference to the following churches and hope that you might be able to help by providing their original name. The first two are the churches in Main Street, Tobermory. The two to which I refer are the one now called 'The Gallery' and has the wonderful stai

10. [Mull] Inhabitants of the inner isles Morvern and Arnamurchan [1]
Hi Listers, I saw the reference to Morvern and Arnamurchan on Mull Genealogy and was directed to Jean Whimp. Jean replied that she is currently in Scotland and away from her source materials. She suggested that I post to the list to see if someone else could help me before she gets back home. Here is my dilemma: What can anyone tell me about Arnamurchan? The reason for my query is that I have hit a "stonewall" in trying to get back past my GGG Grandfather Donald McPherson. I found his marriage to J
11. [Mull] Yacht Armide [1]
I have recently received a photo album imprinted Kodak Ltd., London, and signed "Donald McPhail, Yacht Armide, July 1903". The album contains some 21 black & white photographs, including several of the Yacht Armide, its crew and passengers, and several of fine stone houses and ancient churches or castles, all on a rather rugged coastline showing little sign of vegetation. There are also group pictures, with men and women in their finery, and one patriarch with white beard in highland dress. I am working on

Hello Ken. I can't see any immediate connection to my McCallums but you never know, so if no-one else claims them as kin, could I please have the photocopies. 16. Re: [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] John Innes [1]
Ida: I'm back on this again because of the census information you found on the family of John INNES in 1841. I have just copied all the mails I generated when I resubscribed to the list this year when I asked about the marriage of John INNES and Isabella BAXTER. I didn't get any replies so I unsubscribed. I subscribed again in about July having purchased the death certificate of my Gt Uncle, and finding that he died in Mull. I had been clicking around websites trying to find the cottage where my G

18. Re: [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] John Innes [1]
Good morning Ida, I'm looking at my certificates and I don't have John's death certificate; I purchased one thinking it might be. As he was born in 1797, throwing my hat at it, which we do at first I might think he would have died somewhere around 1867. John's wife Isabella died in 1871 and it states she was "married to" John Innes, so one might consider that he was alive then. Most death certificates will state her to have been a widow alternatively, or, of course, "single" had she not married. John I
19. [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] McCallum divorce 1906 [1]
Hi List I have recently obtained copies of the papers of a divorce between John McCallum and Emily Isabella McCallum, both from Auckland NZ, in 1906. The divorce was handled in the Supreme court in Sydney. They do not belong to my lot, so if anyone wants the 50 odd pages of photocopying, let me know before I throw them out. Cheers Ken McCallum Newcastle NSW

Hello Ian, Charles wrote - "The list you manage serves a great need and although I subscribe to several others, I find your list is the most active and by far the most accurate because of the membership and yourself and your continuing willingness to correct the information displayed." I most heartily second those comments, and wish you and all the Mull list members a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year. 22. [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] Stray McLean [1]
Hi all, I came across this by accident and thought it may be of use to someone although the dateof death for his father, given as 1901, is possibly wrong as he is still listed as next of kin. Sergeant DONALD McLEAN below seems to be the son of this couple :- George MCLEAN Birth : 6 Jul 1860, Kilfinichen Parish, Isle of Mull, Argyllshire, Scotland Died : 1901 Father : Hector MCLEAN ( d, 24 Jan 1893, Ardchiavaig ) Mother : Catherine MCINNES ( d. 20 Oct 1892, Ardchiavaig )

24. Re: [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] Addressing mail in 1828 [1]
from the few items which I have in my family records(our people left in 1820), they referred to Scotland as "North Britain" which designation was an attempt by the English-speaking inhabitants in power to try to prevent the use of the word "Alba" the Gaelic for Scotland and also the use of "Scotland" - my grt grandmother who was born in 1785 and died in 1874, spoke of her husband Parlan MacFarlane who predeceased her by 5 years as a native of Achnacroish, Torosay, Isle of Mull, North Britain
