My William McClean was born Isle of Mull 1702. Can anyone tell me if there
are any records of any kind for that time period. He moved to Northern
Ireland sometime before 1733 when he married there. I don't know if his
parents moved there and took him or if he went on his own as an adult. Any
suggestions on where to look for information.
Also I would like information on what life was like there at that time. Any
suggestions for online or offline reading?

Is the list just quiet, or am I not receiving mail?
Thought I'd tell you of a piece of good fortune; Jo Currie, while
researching for her new book on Mull history, came across a poem written in
Gaelic in the 19th century, which was, according to the editor, composed "on
the occasion of two sons of Alexander McCallum leaving for foreign shores".

some more information about my elusive family, few of whom seem to have
marriages, christ
