Hello to Dennis
I saw your entry on the list and I have more info for you on your family
as part of the British King 1839 Genealogy Research Project.

Well, where do I begin??
The meeting on Tuesday evening with the representatives of the various groups who are willing to help us was truly amazing. I can't thank them enough for getting involved, because without them this simply would not be happening. I don't think I fully realized that until Tuesday. My special thanks to Olive Brown who came to my rescue and organized the meeting.
This is a brief outline. Details will be sent out on a regular basis as they are confirmed. They will also be posted on the

I forgot to mention the research facilities during MUGG.
One will be at the Mull Museum in Tobermory and the other at the Ross Historical Society in Bunessan. We are trying to have both facilities available for as many hours as possible. However, as both places will only hold a limited number of people we will have to have a timetable. Once the times are worked out, I will give you more information. Ian has said he will be able to post a timetable on the website so that you will be able to pre bo

Would love a copy of the photo of Gualachaolish. Believe my ggg
grandfather, Rev. Alexander Fraser, had a home there. He was the Presbyterian minister
for that area in 1790's.

I am presently interested in any MacQuarrie and McDonald
folks living there in late 1700s- early 1800s.
It appears that the population was very small and possibly
most residents were biologically related to the neighbours,
there being a very small "gene pool".
In particular, I am looking at John McDonald/ Ann McGilvray
whose children baptised 1796- 1813 were in Burg then in
Gometra, both places being in parish Kininian.
Comments are most welcome.

Ian,
THANKS so much for sharing. The pictures are beautiful! Wish I was back
there again - maybe next year.
Thanks again,

I haven't got their addresses but thought I'd say HELLO! it
is almost 3 yrs since we corresponded.
Looking over my files I see you once had an interest in
Ormaig. Did you prove your connections lived there? That of
course is where Lachlan MacQuarrie lived, I mean the father

Hi All,
What a week.
I've had a good week and made progress with my mothers line. I now know
where in Kilpatrick (Duart) my mother is interred. I have been trying to
locate the liars (plots) for many years but one of those chance remarks
opened the doors (so to speak).
When I first came to Mull in 1959 I was introduced to the two ferrymen and
was told that they were relatives. I thought these were 'scottish relatives'
i.e. third cousins, twice removed but I have now established that both were
uncles. By
I thought the same thing, but its good to see the surrounding countryside. Small wonder a lot of Mull folk made it to Lanarkshire to make a living; boatyards, silverplate cleaning, bakery etc.

I have a Christy (Christina) McPherson b. Sct. 1822 (??) married to John Black, Priceville, Ontario, CA.
I'm looking for her siblings. One possibility is a brother Alexander McPherson b. 1845, son of Peter McPherson b. 1806 (?) who lived in Bayfield, Ont.
Does anyone have any info. which could tie into this family.

With the help of an online new found cousin I have been given the name of my Gt Gt Grandparents. They are David CAMPBELL said to be a Pier Master and Betsie INNES. I've not yet got the date of their marriage - I have to do some searching for myself now, but I do have the names of three of their children Isabella Campbell b 1850 John born 25th March, 1855, Emelia Degrown born 24th December 1856.
In view of the gaps it seems possible there were other childlren.
I remember someone telling me they had an
Irene,
I was interested to see that you have them as Donald McDonald and
Anne McDougall. I've found quite a few variants on the spelling of
their last names, but had not come across his first name as Donald -
all my sources, including the death certificate, give his name as
Duncan McDonald. I'd be interested to know what you base this on as
it may help me in finding further sources.
Dennis
PS I've sent a report covering what I have on the McDonalds and their
descendants directly to you.

Hi All,
Safely back home for a rest after 2005 visit. Many thanks to all those who
made it all possible.
I don't think that I had had such a busy visit to the island but as ever it
was well worth it.
Finally located the exact position of my gf and gm's plots in Kilpatick
(Duart) burial ground. My mothers ashes are interred with my gm.
Kate (Price) I have some photographs for you. Will send in near future. Hope
you have broadband. I also took a walk out to Caliach Point and got some
