This is where that statement came from.

I was trying to remember the name for people from Mull. I am sure
Malcolm and myself would appreciate knowing the actual term. Malcolm
did at least make an effort to figure out what it was.
Now that you are retired it's about time you came to the colonies to
meet some of the Mull descendants.I am sure the Mull lunch would
increase in numbers if you would make an appearance. I want to let
people know that i will be bringing my MUGG scrapbook and a number of

Hi,
I had several requests for pictures of Tenga.
Just uploaded them to :-

Regret that the weather was not that bright on the day I was there.
All the pictures were taken from the Salen - Dervaig road.
The old Tenga buildings are those under the red roof.
Unable to get pictures of Fanmore. I did pass the location three times but was
unable to find a place which would be a good view. I have come to the conclusion
that the best place to get a photograph of

Good morning Mullions,
Hi fellow Listers.
Not sure if I like this new format for the 'Digest' - maybe it will grow on
me ?

Hi Gerry, Sandy and Malcolm
I'm really glad your having good luck BUT!!
When your replying to the list will you please cut off the trailing

The Gaelic " mhor cam " identifies Campbell as a large man and
as man who was either bent or blind in one eye or maybe squint
eyed. The "jam" is not Gaelic but a sound heard or recalled
incorrectly as there is no letter 'J" in Gaelic -cf. Seumus and Sean
for instance as James and John Am much interested in the
information re the Maccolls for there were several MacColl families

Hi all - been a long while since I've posted to these lists, so
please forgive the cross-post if it's against the rules.
Not sure if anyone was already aware of this reference to Dr. Colin

Re Morvern as part of Mull on the vision of Britain website; just had a
quick look, does it perhaps relate to the practice of adjacent Scottish
parishes joining together to form Scottish Poor Law Combinations which
operated 'combination poorhouses'? mentioned in the Mull link on the site.
Just a thought,
Janet

Hi All
Isn't progress great.. I'm sorry but this will be the way you'll be
getting the digest from now on.
You think the digest is lousy. You should be the list maintainer. It's a
whole new ball game when it comes to maintaing the list.
I'm sure we'll all adjust to it in the end..
While I have you in the updating mode. You may as well change your
address for posting a message to the list to read

Hi List
It says you had the Archives at Tiree copy some pages from the Ship Barlow.
I have been unable to find any reference to this ship, I believe my family
may have been on it. Does this archives have an email address. I would
love to see the passenger list. I am looking for John McEachern, with
children possibly, Roderick, Euphemia, Mary, Alexander, John, Neil, and
Donald. (all children may not have been with him).
Just curious.

Good day. My name is Sandy(Alexander)Zamora. My gr gr grandparents Alexander McEachern and Janet McIntyre came from Scotland in 1847or 1848. My McCormicks are from Mull. Two of our McCormicks from this farm, married two McEacherns from the Priceville area of Grey County in Glenelg Township in 1911 and 1917.

Morning Jean
Thank you for sending the information about this McMillan Family in
Hamilton and Beechworth. From memory, the Secretary of the Clan
Macmillan Society in Victoria has her McMillan family settling around
that area. I will send this email on to her as well. (BCC)
We have no family members named Donald at all. Other names in that
family are common to our family. I will follow this lead and look at
all my Victorian information to see if there are any connections. I

Dear Barbara
Thank you for replying to me. Also thanks for taking the time to look
up some records on my behalf.
Are you looking for Campbells?
I know that our Archibald and Flora McMillan came on the New
Zealander to Portland in 1853 as that is documented in a range of
family history documents. As for this other Flora and Archibald
McMillan who came on the Queen - I must look them up myself too to
see where they came from. Archibald died in 1871 and Flora in 1870.
They are both buried in
Hi
I have a Dugald McCormack of Iona who married Mary McKinnon of Tobermory. They lived in the Priceville area. Is this your family?
I also have a marriage for a Roderick McKechnie born 1851 Vaughan son of Alexander and Janet McKechnie who married Ann McKinnon of Glenelg. I have names and dates for their children if you want to email me privately.

Looking for McKinnons in Ontario and Mull
it is important to remember that the Livingstones thought and spoke in
Gaelic - my Linvignstone kinfolk did so after a hundred and fifty
years away from Mull here in Nova Scotia - Hugh and Duncan are very
different names in Gaelic as in English and certainly not
interchangeable - ministers often changed Gaelic names to Enlgish
versions such as Seonaid to Janet (or Jean which is more likely
Sine) as did other record keepers - but certainly respected the
original name - a recent

Hi Janet
I reason I am contacting you is that I noticed you submited a flora
Mcgilvray and Donald Kennedy to the Mull surmans list. My Hector Campbell a
widower married their daughter who was a young widow from Mull. I got this
info from the' Hills of Glenegl ' as follows:
1841 Mull census Tirghoil Kilf. ,household 60
In 1841 Flora aged 44 , and Donald Kennedy aged 50 agricultural labourer
were living at Tirghoil
Their family included: Susan aged 16, Colin aged 10 and Charles Kennedy aged

Hi Elaine,
I believe that the word you are searching for is 'Mulleach' (pronounced
'mulloch'). I'm sure that someone will correct this if I'm wrong.
I would love to come to the colonies but would be to overcome the thought of
being contained in a flying cigar tube for so long. I'm an out door type and
the thought horrifies me. I know, come by boat :-)
I'm under equal pressure to go to Australia.
Yours,
Ian
