2. [WIG] William MITCHELL service records [1]
Have found this huge database at the Public Records Office in Kew, England to be of great value in finding Pensioners from England, Ireland and Scotland. William MITCHELL is a bit more common than the name I was searching for, perhaps there will be many hits on that name. Best wishes for success : http://catalogue.pro.gov.uk/ You may fully use the site without registering ! Select "Search the Catalogue" upper left Then fill in the boxes with Name, Years [or leave blank to get all hits on the name] and

4. [WIG] Re: GravestonePhotographs [1]
Hi Ian & All, Sorry if this is a repeat - my mail has been not working properly lately. For photographing monument inscriptions I have had some luck using a reflector to change the angle of the sunlight. A mirror large enough to do much might be rather unwieldy. Here (USA) they sell sun shields to put in the windshield of your car to keep the excess heat out. Some of these are highly reflective, and not difficult to handle. Maybe a "solar blanket" mounted to a piece of poster board? :-) Amy

Hi The Urquhart census of Portpatrick was taken by the Minister, Mr. Urquhart over several years and we have a copy in booklet form in our AIGS fhs library here in Melbourne Australia. I have looked at it for my Kerr families and can get the correct bibligraphical details on my next visit if anybody wants them. regards pauline Melbourne

8. [WIG] Potts [1]
Hello I was wondering if you might have any connection to a Lettitia Potts who would have been born around 1842. I found details of her on the St Ninian's Old Churchyard, Whithorn site. I think Potts was her maiden name as her sons (also mentioned) appear to have the name Horner. "Lettitia Potts died at Whithorn 28 Aug 1928, aged 86yrs." I realise she may be no connection at all, but you never know! Joanne McGuire North Wales
9. [WIG] William Houston and Busby, 30 January 1501/1502 [1]
All, I thought you might be interested in this transaction I found on page 112 of the document, "Registrum Secreti Sigill Regum Scotorum , Volume I, 1488-1529". I believe that the "Kiddisdale" referenced below is Kidsdale in Whithorn Parish, Wigtownshire. Those of you who are following the Houstons of Cotreoch may recognize this area as being very close to Cotreoch and other properties that the Houstons owned in Scotland (e.g. Cutcloy, http://www.findachurch.co.uk/area/nx/nx43.html). I believe that is Wil
10. [WIG] Research on Killlltie Kilty [1]
Hello Thank you Penny for your information. I agree fully with Jim and thanks for an excellent piece of research.. Can you tell me please who you are and what your interest in SPR*T is. Perhaps I can contact you directly. I too thought that JAMES KILTY may have married twice. I could not find Elizabeth in the 1851 census as a KILTIE, although as previously suggested it may simply be that she was absent at the time, but I was not been able to find her in another place until you mentioned her being found the
11. Re: [WIG] Kerr's [1]
Hi Diana, I'm not sure if we share the same tree, but it's so hard to track down the female lines that I'd like to share information to see if there is a connection. My connection to the Kerr's is my Campbell's. Margaret Kerr (1867) is my 'cousin in law' upon marrying Randolph S. Campbell. Randolph's father, Thomas Campbell FRCVS (1843-1901) is a brother to my gt. gf. Captain George Campbell (1827-1900). The parents of Thomas and George are JOHN CAMPBELL b. circa 1798 Kirkinner, died 29 May 1873 Sorbie,
