I just found my father, one year old on the 1930 Census for Union Co.
He had no idea where he grew up in Union, according to the census it was
Gault Avenue. Since we have photos of my father and siblings in the yard
during that time frame, we would love to go to that house.
Does anyone know if Gault Avenue still has houses up? It appears to be
south of Main Street (perhaps near a cotton mill) and runs east to west in
between Pickney and Gage, north of Cohen.
I appreciate it.

Lavina Hamilton was born in Union District, SC abt 1800 daughter of John Hamilton. She died in 1857 in Marshall County, MS and her tombstone says she was born Newcom district, SC.

I'm researching the family of John Williams, b. 1762, who married Margaret
McCorkle, b. 1768, in NC. Their son John, b. 1791 NC, married Mary Jones in
Union Co., SC and moved to IL through KY with sons, Lemuel Rhodes Williams
and Patrick McCorkle Williams, among other children. I would appreciate any
contact with Williams or Jones descendants.

I know ya'll are as caught up in the war coverage as I am but I, for one,

Hi Charles,
Thank you for answering. I believe my Robertsons had already left SC as land
opened up in GA (Land Lotteries) and after the Louisiana Purchase in 1803,
most headed for Louisiana and got land mainly in the section of LA that was
owned by Spain, know as West Florida. However, it was in the early 1800s.
The land was in East Baton Rouge Parish, St. Tammany Parish, Washington
Parish, and other Parishes.
We are in a different time period in SC.
Thanks for your prompt reply,
Betty
Hello all,
In response to the Roll Call, I wanted to remind you of my interest in
all the Wilbanks and Willbanks families of Union County.
I am also interested in the neighbors of William and Abarilla (Gostwick)
Woolbanks-Wilbanks, and any of the families of Padgett's Creek Baptist
Church that may have had a strong association with this Wilbanks
family. William, a Revolutionary War veteran of Col. Thomas Brandon's
regiment, was a founding member of the church. He appears to have owned
land near this chu

Christie,
Who are your Bailey ancestors? I noticed you had some of the same
surnames as I do for the Bailey family: Cudd, Palmer, Wood. Mine
originated from the Union county,SC area. Some branched out to other
counties later on.

I am still trying to figure our why William WOFFORD (the "Rich Tory") deeded
land to my ancestor, Thomas WRIGHT in Union in 1785 saying it was land that
WOFFORD had intended to be WRIGHT's inheritance. Obviously, there was some
sort of blood relationship, but what. Was WOFFORD the father of Lillie, the
wife of Thomas WRIGHT? Or her grandfather? We think she was born about
1758 so that means he could have been either. Or, perhaps, was he the
grandfather of Thomas? How sure are you WOFFORD descendants t
Victoria,
Do you know of any connection between John B. Bailey and John & Sarah Fielder Inman?
A land transaction from Bailey to Inman shows for "love and affection".
An additional note: John and Sarah Inman's son John married Winnie Going,
granddaughter of Isaac and Rebecca Palmer Going. Rebecca was apparently a daughter
of John and Patsy Williams Palmer. This is information from a cousin, I've not
personally researched the Going/Palmer line yet.
