Yes, the Surname DNA projects follow the Y-DNA (male). Here's a link to the
Family Tree DNA website:

I think it would be very exciting to have a Seale/Seal/Seals DNA project!

Hi Everyone,
I received the following msg from Rootsweb this morning and felt it was
important to pass this information on to the members of the list. The SEALS
list is being moved to a new server on Friday. The list will be down for
approximately 10 hours. This affects the SEALS list but not the SEAL list.

Hi Everyone,
Who are your Seals? Where are your brick walls/roadblocks?
Mine are the descendants of Dawson Seals b. 1802 (in Randolph Co, North
Carolina?) who married Elizabeth (--?--). They lived in Hancock Co,
Tennessee, until 1841, then went to Missouri. Their son Kennedy (spelled a
hundred other ways, too) b. 1827 married Elizabeth Bacon in 1845 in Franklin
Co, Missouri.
In 1850, the family was in Otter Creek Township,Vigo, Indiana. Lydia Seals
(daughter of Dawson Seals) married Harvey Johns

I'm sending this out again hoping there might be new

KY, and married ...??..VOYLES.
This unknown VOYLES died or left, because Hester married

James BOLING and Hester had 4 children, and in 1823
the whole family moved to Rush Co.,IN. James and Hester
Hi Everyone,
Sorry to post this to the list, but I've list SEAL researcher Tim Gore's
e-mail address. Does anyone on either list have it? (Tim, are you a list

Thanks!

Yes, we are related! Your Eliz. Seals is the sister of my William W. Seals. If
you found the Seals/Lofton marriage record, you likely saw the one for my
Seals/Townsend ancestors, 1803 also. The father of these two (plus two other
siblings) is Francis Seals. I *think* he was Rev. War veteran, wife Mary. This
from Cabarras Co. court records. My grgrmor's (b 1867 KS) brother was Frank and
her fa was John.
Are you new to this list? Did you see what I sent earlier re: desc. of William
