Tracy, my Sherman's came from Germany and changed their name to Sherman. I am
still trying to find out what the original name was but Schuermann is one of
the possibilities. What are some of your family's names and where did they
live?

Hi, this might be a good time to jump in with my SHERMAN family since I
believe they may also be descendants of Ulrich Schuerman. The oldest
SHERMAN ancestor that I have proof of is Peter Sherman, born 1811, who
resided in Columbia County, Pa. He lived in the same area where Simon
Sherman had lived and died in 1797. It appears that this brach of the
SHERMAN\SCHERIMAN family left very little in the way of a paper trail.
Does anyone else have information on the family that resided in
Northumberland Cou
Hi,
I'm sorry, but non of the names match. The information I have:
Frederick Shuerman 1812-1879, was born on the banks of the Rhine. Came to
America in 1848; land at New York and came to Miwaukke where he married
Caroline Banner. Children were Herman, Louisa and Hellen,.
J. Henry Schureman 1818-1877 was born in Duisburg, German. He came to NY in
1849. He married Sabilla Jorris.
Wilhlem Schureman 1825-1902. He was also born in Duisburg. He married
Caroline Weegmann.

I have trying to figure out this Scherman family from Niederhochstadt. I am
descended from Conrad Scherman. Would like to find confirmation of his
parentage. It is implied he is the son of George Jacob Scherman, but Simon
Scherman had a son Conrad who administered his will in Berks Co. in 1787. Here
is what I have on George Jacob and his wife Eva Kunigunda Crieschbaum

I don't have this spelling in my ancestral line, but have information on three
Schuermans who came to Ash Creek township, Richland County, WI in the 1840s.
Frederick, Henry and William were born between 1812 and 1825. They were born
on the banks of the Rhine. Parents were Mathias and Sarah.
I have additional information
Tracy,
I have a William C. Sherman b 1881 which would have been my great grandfather.
I don't know who his parents were, only that they came from Germany and that
the name had been changed. He lived in the Scranton/Clarks Summit area of PA.
I don't know if there where any siblings or not. I can't seem to get a birth
certificate or naturalization record. I'm at a stand still. Anyway thank you
for your time and if anything connects I will let you know.
Thank You
Brenda

Brenda,
My immigrant Schuermann ancestor was William M. Schuermann. He and his
family came to America in the late 1880's from Bochum, Westphalen,
Germany. The name was changed from Schurmann to Schuermann when William
was filling out all of the legal business and paper work upon arriving
in America. He became confused and added the extra "e", thus the whole
family had to change their name to Schuermann. His parents were Wilhelm
and Gertrude (Blumbach) Schurmann. His father Wilhelm was killed in a
