5. Re: [Smith-NYC] Henry & Elizabeth Smith and daughter Maria Ann Smith [1]
Hi Judy, I am really interested in your Henry Smith. My Smiths, Thomas and brothers James and Alford lived in Williamsburgh in the 1850s and worked as editors, publishers and printers in NYC. I have them all in the census. They also loved Oyster Bay and vacationed there. Both James and Thomas have sons named Henry so it is a family name. There father was James Smith who also was a printer in NYC and probably married Mary Brownle. Do any of these names sound family. James Sr. was born in the US but I

11. [Smith-NYC] ADMIN MSG: Bouncing messages [1]
There is a problem with Rootsweb mailing lists on one particular server. Some of my lists happen to be on that server. I am receiving bounce after bounce after bounce. Rootsweb is trying to solve the problem but you may inadvertently be unsubbed because of three bounces. If you stop getting mail from a list, you should first check out the archives to see if there has been mail. If you have been unsubbed, you can either resub or email me and I'll unsub you. Sorry for the inconvenience. -- Pat Connors,
12. ADMIN MSG re: is out of the office. [1]
Remember if you are using an automatic reply of any kind when you are out of the office/home, unsub from your lists, or set it so it won't go to the lists and any of the listers. Thanks and have a safe weekend holiday. Just so you know, if I receive one, or one goes to the list, I put the subber on the 'reject' list where they stay subscribed to the list but can no long post messages to the list, until they assure me that they have adjusted their auto reply program, same goes for automatic mail fro
13. Question Re All Henry Smiths in Bklyn, 1830 Census [1]
Hi Listers: If the index for the 1830 in Brooklyn is correct, there are 2 Henry Smiths listed as heads of household. One of these is mine, but I can't determine which and am hoping someone will claim the other by providing the family members by age and gender. One of the Henrys is listed as living on Red Hook. He has the right number of people in the household for mine, as well as the correct genders and ages, IF the daughter Eliz. had died by then, which I think she may have. The other Henry is listed

My ancestors also belonged to the Presbyterians. Edmund L. Smith was associated with the Presbyterian Church in Portchester, NY. For years he was one of the trustees according to his obituary. His funeral took place in the church with the Rev. W. W. Dowd officiating. Clarissa Leheny

19. Henry Smith & Elizabeth Weaver, m. 1821 [1]
Hi Listers: Well, EUREKA ! I've done it! And the best part is, I didn't even know I'd done it. :) I was just cleaning off the desk, and came across some unfiled FHL pink order slips from last August. At that time, I'd viewed the 1st Methodist Episcopal Ch. of Brooklyn film. What I didn't have at that time, was my 4th g-gm's maiden name - Weaver. I found that on a death record about 6 months ago. On the pink slip I had written, "Henry Smith and Elisabeth Weaver, m. Mar 11, 1821 by Rev. Henry Chase".

They mention that the church merged with Park Hill Church
21. My Smith's in Cypress Hill Cemetery, Brooklyn, have 2 Henry's after 1864. No dates [1]
I have two Henry Smith's in my family's plot - but no dates. The Plot was bought by William H. Smith in JUNE,1864. His mother's name was Martha Smith and she was still living in 1880. I know that my Great-grandfather, William H. Smith was born in Brooklyn in 1838. He married Catherine Watkins - date unknown. Not certain of William's death information, but he was around age 26 when he bought the plot. In 1880 and 1870 census he lists his father (don't know name) as being born in Maryland. I do

Ch. of Brooklyn back in the early 1800s? > Gosh, I don't know what religion mine were at that time...some went to Yonkers in 1850 and I found them in the Reformed Church but don't know what denomination that is. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com All outgoing mail virus free, scanned by Norton
23. Re: [Smith-NYC] church denominations [1]
My Edmund was the son of William and Abigail Lockwood Smith. Most of the family are buried in Green-wood Cemetery, Brooklyn. In Plot 3698 is a Henry W. Smith died March 22, 1895. According to the original plan when the brothers bought the plot that plot was purchased by William Smith Jr. I think Henry's wife was a Madeline ? In Plot 3702, bought by Merrit Smith is buried a HenryC. Smith who died April 20, 1884. Plot 3699 was purchased by Himan (Hymen) Smith who was married to his first cousin, M

25. RE: [Smith-NYC] Henry Smith / Eliz. Weaver, continued [1]
Just searching on Reformed Church, Yonkers with google brings up a few possibilities, and doesn't even show German Reformed or Dutch Reformed. Does anyone know whether the "Reformed" indicates what we know today as Lutheran in most cases? I've often wondered about that. If you can believe it, this is the first time in 35 years I've found any of my ancestors in NY, (and all of mine lived in the boroughs), connected to a church. I knew that one granddaughter was buried in a Methodist cemetery in MD, so ord
