Hi Cornelia, I cannot help with your SMITH line. My SMITH line is from the Witney area of Oxfordshire. Back to a James SMITH who married Jane SCARSEBROOK on the 15 September 1800 at St Mary's Witney. They had 4 children that I have been able to find; John (bapt 1801); William (bapt 1803); Thomas (bapt 1806); and Mary (bapt 1808). Jane I believe was buried 5 December 1837 from St Mary's Witney. Trying to find family members who arrived in Australia in 1840 on the George Fyfe/Fife. The George Fyfe left from Tobermory or Weeping Springs on Mull in 1839. The Smith family were from Ardnamuchan in Scotland. Having left before the 1841 Census they are proving difficult to track down in Scotland. They were John and Mary Smith with Lachlan 18, Roderick 16, Hugh 14, George 12, Mary 10 and Margaret 9.
