My two cents here: I figure if none of my kids want my research....I have put it in my will for it to go to a Lib in Tx that has helped me alot and its in the vicinity of where the last 3 generations of our Smothers lived and died. I might suggest this to others. As far as organizing.....I do Word Doc's....I am sure some of you have seen some of my own notes, label them with a disclaimer...I keep emails with addys, names and dates and enter them under the ancestor the email refers too. I find this very

Do you keep it in file cabinets, binders, boxes? Do you sort it by individual or area? Do you print out all you have in your computer, do you p

13. Re: [SMOTHERS] New list members [1]
Karen I find it easier to keep my line of Smothers in a note book, families together. Each with there own info. Main people have tab on then. Pics of that family & all info I have found is in there section. It's easy to find a certain persons info, easy to take out to work with, or add anything you might find late to the right place in time. Anything that goes into the book is also scanned & saved on the pc. I start with my oldest know Smothers, from there I made files of each child. In these children files

Lois.......Thanks so much for sharing your organizational skills! I, too, use notebooks. I have one for each of the main family lines that I am researching. I have printed out a pedigree chart that is in the front of the notebook. Then I have printed out a family group sheet for each family and have particular documents, photos, etc., grouped with the families. It's almost got a scrapbook feel to it. I do also have file folders for each family that hold any duplicate or pertinent information and

I do about the same. One drawer has files as family names, with info with everything found on that name. Another drawer has e-mail. Started with one folder, then went to family names. This has also gone to some people haveing there own folders. When you find relatiives, the e-mail info really flys. LOL These folders just keep getting biger as time goes by.
