Does anyone on this list know if a copy of a will can be obtained from
the Somerset County Courthouse, by writing to them with the
information???
If so, do you have an address and the cost??
Thanks to all.

Hi all,
I was given this tonight from a danish correspondent, and checked it out, it
has Danish Emmigration records,
I was able to pinpoint my g grandmother, and a couple minutes later her
uncle's Emmigration information and dates of departure, there are scans of
30 years of records right from the original ledgers of all who left between
1872 and 1903 that are accessible and print out nicely.
There are also links to other archives in European countries.

Dr. E.C. Saylor, DDS, now deceased, copied thousands of church records many
years ago. My copy is now packed away awaiting my moving van (I'm moving
to the farm), but Closson Press, in Apollo, PA, carries the item. You'll
find birth, baptismal, marriage, and funeral information from reformed
congregations in Berlin.

Hi Angel,
The Somerset book was a limited edition of 1,868 books put out by the
Somerset Historical and Genealogical Society in 1980, I was fortunate to
find and buy a copy on an internet auction last winter. There's a lot of
information in there, I have yet to get through it.

"Phillip Alwine and his family appear in the Somerset County 1810
census. Phillip was the father of John, Jacob, Joseph, Phillip, Sarah,
Lydia, Bessie, and a fourth daughter. There is no mention on the fourth
daughter. According to the 1807 tax record, he and his family lived in a

Thanks Mary,
I also have used Mastof and found them to be delightful. They will copy
articles from magazines they archive for you as well (not many book
stores will do that for you!).

I am curious if there are any lists of families and when they left the
region for the West.
My great grandmother and her family -Elvira Henry and her parents Harmon
and Sophia Henry traveled to Kansas
when she was 15 about 1883. Harmon's brother Joshua and his family also
went to Sabetha Kansas and settled.
I am assuming at the same time. Elvira's future husband Samuel Bowman and
his family also traveled to
Sabetha Kansas at this time. Are their any lists of families and when they

Hello Fellow listers,
I need some help from some of you Somerset Natives... This kinda deals
with genealogy. We had our 1st Annual HOLLIDAY Family Reunion this year and it
was a success. Now we are planning the 2nd Annual reunion for next year in mid
July. But here is where I need help. I need to find a place to have it. I am

Robert Griffith, and any one out there with current lost kin.
Some suggestions are:
1. Post to the area, they are last known to be.
2. Post to the area around last area known to be.
3. Check census from 1900 forward tax lists for 1890.
4. Try the SSIndex for those whom might have qualified for being on the rolls.
5. When checking census, always take 20 names before the name your looking
for, and 20 names after what your looking for. Copy and keep for future
