Hi-
My name is Bill Buratty, and I am secretary for the Somerset-Cambria county
chapter, Sons Of the American Revolution. Currently I am working on a list
of graves for all Somerset County Rev. Veterans. I noticed you are
preparing to post some similar information. Is there any way we could
compare notes? Thanks Bill
Looking for information on MCVAY, WADE, CLUTTER, LINDLEY, RUDE who lived
in the Westmoreland - Washington Area in the 1760- 1820 erea.
I have little information so anything is appreciated.
Hi All:
I also would be interested in purchasing a copy of "2 Centuries of
Brothersvalley - by H. Austin Cooper. Where can I get it?
Also, I am new to this list. I am reading all the posts. I
think it would be a good idea if we all included a signature file at the
end of our messages, which would include the surnames you are
researching. You can enter the text in a signature file, and it would be
there all the time. (It took me a while to figure that out.)

Karla,
I have lots of Lambert info. Unfortunately, I have more on good old paper
than I do in my database. The line begins with Matthew Lambert who came to
York Co., PA in the early 1700's his wife was Anna Rosina or Annacin. They
had five children: George, Jacob, Ann, Catherine, & Casper. Three of the
children of Jacob and his wife Mary Margaretta UPP (or OB) moved to
Somerset County - Jacob, Jr., John, and George. The Lambertsville Lamberts
are descended of John & wife Mary Statler . Their son Samuel &
Hi Bill, I was in your little town of Berlin last July looking for the
First Reformed Cemetery. My ancestor, Simon Shunk, is buried there. I
was, however not able to find it. I plan another visit in July and was
wondering if you could tell me how to get to this cemetery so I can
photograph my 4g-grandfather's headstone.

The pilot and the Landing
A pilot is flying a small, single-engine, charter plane with a couple of
really important execs on board into Seattle airport. There is fog so
thick that visibility is 40 feet, and his instruments are out. He circles
looking for a landmark and after an hour, he is low on fuel and his
passengers are very nervous. At last, through a small opening in the fog
he sees a tall building with one guy working alone on the fifth floor.
Circling, the pilot banks and shouts through his open w
The IGI contains an entry that states that Bedwell Parnell married Ruth
Easton on 10 July 1778 in Frederick Md. This name appears in the 1790
Maryland census and in the 1800 and later Somerset Co, Pa Census.
Is anyone working on this line?

Does anyone know if this book is still available in print? I spent the
afternoon reading the copy at the Mesa FHC library and would love to get
my own copy of the book.

We are looking for the parents of Robert M. Johnson, Who lived in Cambria County during the 1870's. He had a sister who was Susanna Johnson Kufman who lived in Woster, Ohio, during the sane time period. They had a brother named Edward D. Johnson who lived in Boggs Township, Centre County, Pa. The name we believe was changed from Johnston to Johnson around 1850. The parents had migrated from Maryland to Cambria County, Pa, around 1820 and we believe are from Scotish decsent.
Hi Hopeful Jim-
The Rebellion is usually the end of September. Last year was around
the 27th. It is a small town and is a small town celebration. there is a
rifle shoot,a parade,assorted food stands,usually a Civil War reenactment
camp.
Is it worth a 300 mile drive? that depends on your perspective. If
you are from the city and used to big city entertainment, you will be
dissappointed. If you like small towns and history, you will like it. Aside
from the celebration, there are lots of old place

John,
I'm sure people are just as disatisfied today or ready for an adventure. I
think more people would move today if they did not have the fears of
finding a good job or health coverage until they did. People in the past
were more self-sufficient (food, clothing, shelter). Today most of us need
money for the same.
Why do some people move now beside relocation forced by jobs? Moving from
California to Idaho to find fresh air; moving out of a city to the get
kids away from "big city problems" like dr

Hi Ann
The Historical society has copies of wills, but I am not sure if
Real Estate can be accessed without going to the Courthouse and looking up
the Deed.
By now you've all read my notes on the Cambria County Library. With the risk
of repeating myself, people have asked me about the most important part. When
sending for obits or marriages $5 for 5 do not forget to send an extra 25
cents for each page copied. If you dont they wont process your order! Happy

Anne- I would try the Somerset Co. Genealogical Society. They have a large
library and when I was there last summer they had wills/estates on microfilm.
On the USGENweb site for Somerset Co. Carol has included info on the Society
that you can access for the address and phone #.

Hello All,
If you have ancestor's from Shade Township - why not take a look at the
updated page - http://www.rootsweb.com/~pasomers/shade.htm
I have just finished adding a great deal of information, courtesy of Leroy
Baldwin, who donated his late father's book, 200 Years in Shade Township, as
resource material for this site.
Don't click on the assessment links just yet - I still need to format them for
easier viewing - but should have that done this evening.
Enjoy!
