1. Re: [SE Pioneers] Surname Johnson in Anson Co, NC (NC Testators Index) [1]
Thanks Berry for the info on the surname Johnson. The older William Johnson had a son William Jr. and is the younger William that you listed. I have a copy of the second will of the older William in which he did not list all of his children. Dont know if they were alive or had moved away. A couple of documents state that three of his sons left Anson Co. and traveled through the Cumberland Pass area. At least two of them continued westward/southward. I do not have a copy of William's first will, althou

8. OLD PHOTO TIP [1]
Sounds like a good tip for our old pictures. From the Ft Wayne IN. Library...Lois ACPL's Preservation Technician Becky Schipper offers advice on conserving your documents: The best way to label your photographs is to print or type your info on acid free labels and affix them to the back side of the photo. . If a man has enough horse sense to treat his wife like a thoroughbred, she will never turn into an old nag.
9. Map: Plan of New Haven, CT, 1641 [1]
The book I mentioned also has an illustration of a map showing the plan of New Haven, CT in 1641. The city was divided into nine squares - the center was for the church. The other eight squares were divided up into properties for the first settlers. These divisions are shown as well as the full names of the property owners. Also on the page are sketches of the church and a house belonging to one of the first settlers: Theophilus EATON. Also the signatures of Theophilus EATON and John DAVENPORT are re

Berry, Would you have run into any in fo on the Dean/Deen family. One source says of NC, another states SC. Richard Dean was a soldier in the Rev. War. Have no idea who his wife or ancestors were. Trying to prove his children were: Micajah (no dates, this was my ancestor), Elijah, Sally, Rebecca, and others. Would love anything you might have run into.
