1. Re: [STAMPER-FAMILY-PROJECT] Stamper Family [1]
Joan, You asked for information on Rebecca Jane Stamper, daughter of Larkin and Edy (Wright) Stamper. I just today made the link between Rebecca and her parents. Her descendants are not included in the latest update of the database, but can be found in a separate report located at; http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~vandiver/index.html. and then clicking on the 2nd selection where you will find her name. I have just changed software from FamilyTreeMaker to Legacy, and have not perfected the report

Hi, Cousin Joan; Have you tried going onto the Internet with his name? I have found lots of information that way, so give it a try. I would gladly do so for you, but right now I'm in the process of another project of importance. Hello Carolyn, Nice to hear from a member of the Stamper Family, Thank you for you family line. What part of the county do you live in? I think it is interesting to see where family members settled. We live in Warren County, Ohio, so Don's family went from VA>>NC>>VA>>KY>>Ohio My husband's cousin started researching in the early 1970's when everything was snail mail. When I decided to use the resources on the internet to add to her research, Diane sent me all that she had on their family.

The book you talk of opening is it on line so I might see it too. My mother was a dau. of Larkin Stamper and Parthenia. Also I would be interested in buying a book if one is available. Hi Geneva, I haven't heard from you for a long time. Great to share again. Yes, you (and anyone interested) can browse the online book, however, I don't believe you would like to print it as it is quite large, and is subject to change on a daily basis. I have not updated it for quite some time, as I have been sidetracked, however, I feel as though I am back on track now. Just click on the link that starts "Http://familytreemaker.genealogy....... Then use the index to find your Larkin and Part

Hi ladies & anyone interested. My name is Sadie Stamper Greer. I live in Marion VA ( SWVA) now and descend from the brother of Joel Stamper who married Nancy Cannady. My ancestor was Jonathan Jr. Along with earlier data researched by Betty Stamper Latham and husband George, I took up the placard and wrote a book on my lineage of Stampers. From Jonathan Brooks Stamper, to his son Jonathan Jr, my line goes to Joshua, then Jannie ( unmarried ), to James Madison, John Calvin, Harvey, James , my Dad, then me. M

Cherie, OneWorldTree has the wife of George Floyd Blankenship as Rosa Stamper, dau of Campbell William Stamper and Nancy Hall, but I believe this is absolutely not true for the following reasons; 1. in the 1900 census of Maiden Springs, Tazewell Co, VA, Rosa (Stamper)Blankenship, age 18, b. June? 1882 VA, is found with her husband, George F. Blankenship, age 20, b. Hi Pam, If I didn't answer this before, please excuse my oversight. You asked where you could send information to update this project. You can send it to me at the address below. I have been working on documenting the file for Golden Ferguson. She must be under the weather, as I haven't heard from her for a while. Hope all is well with her. At any rate, at this point, I have the database and am working on applying birth, death, marriage, census records, to name just a few. If you can add

Gertrude, If you will follow the link to our online book (below) then use one of the following procedures, you will find the information you are looking for; Procedure 1. Using the index, search on Baker, James. The underlined + sign to the left of the individual's name, indicates they have descendants ... click on that plus sign to follow the line. You will see that we have no descendants listed for Richard (1867). If you would like to contribute that line, I would be happy to enter it into the databa

Eileen, I am Gertrude Barrett Amburgy d/o Alex Barrett s/o Richard Barrett s/o William Barrett s/o James and Matilda Barrett. My grand father Richard had told me that Matilda was a Neil but I have been told later she was a Stamper. In the 1850 Breathitte County Census Matilda was listed as born 1810 in Ohio and there was a Joel Stamper age 72 born in NC living in the house with James and Matilda. Would you have any information on this family? Thank you, Gertrude Amburgy ----- Original Messag

Gertrude, The only Joel Stamper I have born near that age was Joel Jr. s/o Joel and Nancy Cannady. I have the same birth year as the Stamper Project which was 1788. I wonder if the age is incorrect on the 1850 census and it is Joel Jr. It could be that Joel was just living with the Barretts. If Matilda was Joel's daughter, why would she be born in Ohio? I have a Nancy Matilda Stamper who, according to information given to my cousin about 30 years ago, was born Dec 13, 1811 Wilkes County, NC and died

Hi Golden, First of all, thank you for all you do for us. If you were paid a reasonable salary for all the work you have done on the Stampers you would be a rich girl! Again, thank you. I have a question about Mary Stamper, daughter of Joel Stamper. I believe she is a twin sister to my Grandmother, Margaret Peggy Stamper that married John Handy in Wilkes County, NC. Mary married John Handy's brother, Thomas, but only lived with him for a couple of years or less. Did she die or was she divorced
