Hello All,
I have spoken to several of you in regards to the John' and James'. I need
assistance in nailing down John Stewart listed in Rutherford Co NC prior to
1790. Is he connected to the Stewart's of Surry, Rowan, Guilford, or
Cabarras Co's NC ?
Our John Stewart ca 1730-1830 seems to have traveled through Guilford,
Cabarras, Mecklingburg, Rutherford, Buncombe, Haywood & Macon Co NC.
Might there be a connection to Wm Stewart & family of Anderson Creek
Mecklingburg/Cabarras Co NC. Possibly a broth
Hi Ronald,
This family is in the SCM: easiest way to find it is to check the pages
under Elizabeth Brown:
Brown, Elizabeth, m.James, NC 1793: D28,E57,G21,H237,I298
On D28 there is a note that "James Stuard (same man) was witness to the
will of John Coffey of Wilkes County, Aug 11, 1825. Coffey had a sister
Sally [Coffey] who married Samuel Stewart and a brother William [Coffey]
who married Ann Boone, niece of Daniel, says the 'History of Watauga

The given names George and Cynthia run in my STUART line also. My Great Grandfather was George Washington Stuart (Wash)b.1860 in LA and his wife was Mary E Biggs (Mollie)b 1868 in LA. George W's mother was Isabella Gibson b.circa 1844 in AL and her mother was Syntha ? Gibson b. circa 1815 in AL. According to family lore, one of the grandmothers was an Indian and the children called her Indian Grandma, don't know which one it was, tho. Do you have any birthdates on your Gr grandparents? -Suzy

I found the book in the Fredrick Co Library, Winchester, VA while on a
research trip. The Title page got separated/lost before I go home. Will
stop by there next month while doing more research and get back with you.
Also, I will check out the library's web site & see if they can provide it.

To the researcher who wondered where to find records of their Stewart
ancestor in Washington County, VA: Try the Library of Virginia's Digital
Library website. I'm in the process of deleting old information as I upgrade
to a new computer, so I don't have the web address handy but it's well worth
finding via search engine. The best state specific genealogy resource on the
Internet, in my opinion. Good luck, Sharon
To the person looking for Hedgeman Triplett who was last seen in Mason
County, KY. Try looking directly across the Ohio River. My Stewart ancestors
migrated to Brown County, OH via the town of Maysville, which is in Mason
County, KY. If you're at a brick wall you could try searching in Adams, Brown
and Clermont counties in Ohio. Good luck, Sharon

I found this info in the "Annals of Augusta County", VA: James Stuart died
intestate in 1758. He was probably the father of John Stuart "of the Middle
River of Shenandoe" whose will was admitted to record August 21, 1771, whose
wife was Mary, & whose children were John, James, JANE, Mary & Elizabeth.
Another John Stuart died in 1790, probably son of the former & in his will
mention is made of his wife, Frances & children--Mary, Margaret & Samuel.
Is anyone researching this line?
Denise Stewart Sa
Hi Denise.
Although I can't help with your Stewarts, I'd be interested to learn
more about the reference you cited: "Annals of Augusta Co., Va.". I hadn't
heard of this one and it could be useful for more than one line of my family.
Can you share the author and publisher with us? Thanks and good luck with
your search.

Howdy Bill,
Suggest that you try the advertisers in the Highlander Magazine or the
Scottish Banner (www.scottishbanner.com). You will also find that the
vendors at the various Highland Games and festivals will be able to meet
your needs.
Remember that you are looking for stationary with the Royal Stewart TARTAN.
(The plaid is a garment in Scotland and is pronounced "played").
Good Luck,

Hello!
I am searching for the ancestry of Annie Stewart, b abt 1865 prob PA. Her

I am looking for information on the following Stewart line, in order to include them in the descendants of James Larue b. 1758 VA.
John Stewart b. 1795 PA, married 29 Oct 1823 in Guernsey Co., OH to Charity Larue b. 15 Apr 1796 in Loudon Co., VA or MD, the dau of James LaRue (above) and his wife Elizabeth Jordan.
I believe that John Stewart had purchased his land in Beaver Twp., of Guernsey Co, OH as early as the 1820 census for that area. He is continually found there up to the 1850 Federal census. Aft
I am so EXCITED. I found the school for the blind that my grandmother
attended. It is not in NS or even VT, it is in MA. I called the first on the
list of schools in MA and got the Registrar and she said she had a record
for Margaret Cecelia Stewart McConnell. YIPPEEEEE!!!
I have searched and searched, as most of you know, for this school, but I
was searching in all the wrong places.
I got some information from cousin Eunice and that put me on to MA and I
looked in that general area. Gee, it is so simp

I have another NC brick wall. I am trying to find the father of Alexander
Stuart, born in North Carolina in 1826. Could he be tied in at all with the
family of James Stewart? Alexander Stuart married Mary Jane Livengood in
Orange County Indiana in 1849, and according to our family tradition, fought
in the Civil War on the side of the South. The fact that he fought in the
Civil War on the side of the South probably eliminates him from being one of
the Quaker Stuarts that moved from Pennsylania to North Carol

There was a family of Stewarts living in Martinsburg, Berkley Co. VA (now
WV) in the late 1700's and early 1800's. Lazarus Stewart appears to be
the
father of several sons. Among their names are Adam, John, Robert, James &
William. Does anyone know of descendants of these. Could they be the
ancestors of my Thomas? See note below,
