15. SCN [1]
My Stuarts were Scots, and emigrated to Otago in the south of New Zealand in the 1860s, so I find all the 1700s Stewarts in US a little confusing. But there are family stories of older/younger brothers who went to the US, so I've kept on reading the mailing list since I joined a couple of months ago. I would be very interested to receive your occasional, irregular and whatever newsletters, as well as the back issues file. Good on you (southern [hemisphere] colonial expression of felicitations) for your e

19. STEWART, George PA or NY? [1]
I am trying to see if George Stuart connects w my grgrandmother, Emma Evelina Stuart. But please bear with me. It gets a bit convoluted, but like Sherlock Holmes, I am looking at the faintest clues! Hi- I'm Larry Mai . About two years ago I started collecting STEWART/STEWARD/STEUART/STUART/STUARD surname queries that I had located at various sources on the internet. I had already been doing genealogy for about twenty years, and was really "stuck" in 1752 in one of my 16 surnames: James STEWART (c1752-1829, in "old" Augusta Co., [W]Va). With so many taxpayin' James' around I began to attempt to eliminate possibilities, and soon had a data base of some 20,000 Stewarts from the Cent
