There was a Nathaniel Stuart in Garstang, Lancs. Uk., married 1744. He was probably not Anglican.

Thanks Louis,
My Stuart`s did live in an area in NC and VA that had a heavy Quaker influence, but I have never found them in Hinshaw`s Books. I would say if they were at one time Quaker, they did not stay that way. By 1790 they had slaves, which was a no-no for Quakers and also fought in the Rev War, another bad thing for Quakers and would be dismissed for that. In VA and NC they were Methodist and Baptist. Upon the Rev War in the South, the Church of England was frowned upon and many split form that

Teresa, this Virginia land grant shows the family of Samuel Stewart. It
looks like both Samuel and his, son John died around 1798.
You would need additional information to ID'ed which Stewart family this is.
But I would guess that Sarah was the wife of Samuel.
I am tracing the John Stewart born ca. 1770 or earlier married to Jane in
Bourdon Co Kentucky in 1791. In the early 1800s, family moved to Missouri
where John died ca.1820

Does anyone have the first name Nathaniel in their Stewart/Stuart line? I have Nathaniel Stewart also spelled Stuart born between 1746-1753 ,in Surry CO NC by 1774. Also a Nathaniel Stuart appears on a Halifax Co VA tax list ca. 1759. I am thinkig that since this name was so popular for Stewart`s in New England that perhaps this line came from up North. Any Nathaniel`s out there?
