I have just spent a most enjoyable hour browsing through your excellent
Suffolk Churches website. Wow! Thanks.
Few of the churches I saw have any relevenace to my research but that didn't
stop me enjoying the wonderful descriptions, the history and the
photography.
It leads me to a question though. I checked out all the churches in
Lowestoft (the place where my research is centred) and saw a couple of
references to Methodist chapels. This IS an area of interest. It seems that

Hello Everyone
I am a new subscriber to SUFFOLK.
Over the past ten years (as time has permitted) I have been researching my
family history. My grandfather Captain Jack Danny, who founded the Old
Contemptibles Association to support those, like hinself, who survived the
first battles of the Great War, married my grandmother Edith Gull in 1910.
Edith's family came from Capel St Mary - and there were a great many of them.
Unfortunately the name John Gull occurs a lot which confuses the issue no
end!
Hello Listers:
For any newcomers and old timers that have forgotten, I can look up any entry
(and willingly so), from the parish fiche of Bungay St. Marys, and Holy

I do delete all SPAM so, to insure that I do not delete your request, please
preface your request with "Bungay Lookup" in the subject line.
Have a good year and all the luck in finding your ancestors.

Hello,
We do need to be careful, though, as SENIOR, SEN and JUNIOR exist as
surnames in their own right. (SENR doesn't, of course, and I haven't come
across JUN as an actual surname).

Good morning All
I have a couple of questions that I am hoping someone may be able to help me with.
Thomas Phillips was a mariner and in July 1850 his wife Miriam died aboard the "Fanny" off Felixtowe. This death was registered in the Registration District of Woodbridge, sub district of Colneis in the County of Suffolk. However they appeared to be living in Essex. Nearest Port I guess.
With Thomas being a mariner the possibility of them (him at least) moving around a lot is quite high. They had 3 child

Sharing is good. We all have benefited from it many times. However, the
person receiving it should do enough research to make sure it is correct
for their own sake (I want to verify it before I claim that ancestry, don't
you?), let alone post it to the "multitudes" should it be either totally
wrong or not proven.
In most cases, people don't mind if they are at least given credit for their
research. I think it is wrong for someone to post someone else's research
with no acknowledgment and imply that it w

Hello all, I am new to this list and of course looking for information.
On the free bmd I located a marriage of a Harriet Huggins Dec 1847 Hoxne
Vol 13 pg 1145 transcribed by an Alan Huggins (coincidence) however that
is the only name on the page. I am hoping she married a George Sherrin.
I also have a birth of a George Sherrin in 1848 but also a death and a
birth and death of a James Sherrin in 1853. My George Sherrin and
Harriet Huggins had 2 sons George Augustus in 1851 place unknown and

Folks,
In spite of my asking nicely for these discussion to be done privately,
we're still having people sending posts about matters that really are
